SOLD STC

Dalmally, Argyll, Scotland, Scotland

Description

Dalmally was originally established in the 1980s on
former hill ground with a commercial timber crop
of predominantly Sitka spruce with pockets of
Japanese larch, Scots pine and an assortment of
mixed broadleaves.

Following felling of the majority of the first rotation
crops, the woodland was replanted with improved
Sitka spruce in 2016 and 2018. The underlying soils are largely mineral based with gleys and podzols that are well suited to commercial forestry, as exhibited by the impressive growth rates across the site, especially in the last two years.

Growing conditions are generally good across the site, with the better growth typically found on the dryer free draining knolls and slopes, which merge with small pockets of deeper peat on the lower-lying ground. Yield classes of up to 28 and above can be seen on the better ground, with these dropping off on the poorer areas.

A Long-Term Forest Plan was approved in May 2023 to cover the next 10 years of felling and restocking with the opportunity to carry out selective thinning on the 2016 and 2018 crops within the plan period.

There are currently 44.70 hectares of mature conifer crops being felled and this will be removed prior to a purchaser taking entry. The property will be sold with a restocking obligation over this area.

Compartment schedules, maps and a copy of the Long-Term Forest Plan are available on request from the selling agent.
