Description
SPACE AND PRIVACY
The layout of the house, which dates back to 1994 and was built on land that was originally part of a nearby farm, was also suitable for a growing family. “It had a dining room that we knew we would probably use as a playroom for a few years and it had the most enormous master bedroom,” he says. “I remember my wife stepping into it and just falling in love with it immediately.” The garden was also particularly appealing. “Again, it was a very good size but, above all, it offered us lots of privacy.”
SUMMER DAYS
The four-bedroom house had been well maintained when they bought it and over the years the current owners have also kept it in very good decorative order. Kitchens and bathrooms have either been replaced or updated; windows are now double-glazed and all the rooms have been redecorated. “We also had the garden landscaped and an area of decking built,” he adds. “This is now a lovely place for just relaxing in the summer months or having friends round for barbecues with the purpose built barbeque patio and seating area.”
EASY LIVING
The property, which is entered via a hallway, with access to the ground-floor cloakroom and understairs cupboard, has a generous sitting room. “This is slightly larger than the master bedroom above due to the added bay window space and is a lovely place to sit and relax in the evening,” he observes. “It is also ideal for family life or for entertaining because it is so spacious.” The kitchen breakfast room is another great family room. “We always had our family meals in here when the children were small,” he says. “The kitchen is still where we tend to gather when they come home to visit. It is a good social space with room for a six-seat table.”
BRIGHT IDEAS
The dining room has been a superb additional reception room. It is now once again used for formal meals but could easily become a snug, home office or children’s den to suit the requirements of new owners. “This is a very flexible house,” he agrees. “There is also scope for new owners to increase the versatility even more by extending or remodelling it. There was always enough space for us but (subject to the relevant planning permissions) the garage could be converted into additional living space and there could be the option of extending out to increase the size of the kitchen or even carrying out a two-storey extension.” The four bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the first floor of the property. The sizeable master bedroom features an en-suite shower room and has ample space for a dressing area. Another bedroom is also especially generous and then there are two smaller bedrooms and a family bathroom.
GREAT LOCATION
The garden has been a magnificent extension to the house and the owners have also enjoyed their proximity to beautiful, green open spaces, such as Shenley Wood and Furzton Lake. “This has also been a great place to live because we have such good neighbours and there is a wonderful sense of community.” He adds: “This has been a perfect location for a family to be in and the house has also been ideal for us. Now it is time for another family to move in here and enjoy both the property and everything that Shenley Brook End has to offer.”
