Saint-Amour-Bellevue is located in the south of Burgundy, in the Beaujolais region. During a walk along the vineyards you will understand the reason for the suffix "Bellevue", beautiful view.
Don't hesitate to visit the private cellars, some of which are vaulted and full of history and taste some of the local wine appelations.

ORIGIN OF THE NAME: Amor (Amour or Amator) was a Roman legionary companion of Saint Maurice, leader of the Theban legion, whom Maximian brought in 286 from the region of Thebes (upper Egypt). Amor refused to fight against the Christians and escaped the massacre of which many of his comrades were victims. He took refuge in Gaul and became a missionary. He is said to have bequeathed his name to the village of Saint Amour. In 1793, the republican secularism debaptized the communes beginning with "Saint" and Saint Amour was then called "Bellevue" until 1795 (evidence of the name in view of its panorama). The village was finally renamed "Saint-Amour-Bellevue" in 1909. At the corner of the village hall, the statuette of Sanctus Amor, erected as a Roman legionary, (on an armorial base) pays homage to him. Nearby, in the church dating from the 11th century, enlarged in the 19th century, you can admire a magnificent 12th century altarpiece to the left of the altar.

Let us not forget the gourmets, Saint-Amour-Bellevue has the privilege to have two gastronomic restaurants, "au 14 Février", whose chef Masafumi Hamano is double starred in the Michelin guide, and L'Auberge du Paradis with its famous chef "Cyril Laugier" they will make you appreciate delicate and refined dishes that amateurs will accompany with the "local nectar" the Cru Saint-Amour. The bistro "Joséphine à Table" allows you to taste the regional dishes of the traditional cuisine.
