Description

Spectacular, fully renovated and extended coastal cottage.

Description

The spectacular White Cottage, whilst unassuming from the front, has recently undergone a remarkable and thoughtful renovation and extension programme. The current owners have transformed the cottage into an exceptional coastal home, with a high specification of finish throughout, and an internal area of about 1,386 sq.ft.

Renovation works included a full renewal of the electrics and plumbing, including a new boiler and underfloor heating throughout. The roof has also been replaced, with energy-efficient and long-lasting NorDan windows installed. The layout has been extended and reconfigured to create a superb open-plan kitchen / dining / sitting / family area at the heart of the house.

The kitchen by German company Häcker, features a large central island with an integrated Cople induction hob. The worktops are silestone by Cosentino, and there is a breakfast bar set at the window looking down the beach. Other appliances include Hotpoint oven and combi oven, and Bosch dishwasher. The sink is fitted with an a Blanco boiling tap and waste disposal unit, and a door leads out to the garden. The adjacent family area also benefits from stunning views and a sliding patio door leading outside. The dining space is generous, and sits between the family area and the sitting room with its new fireplace.

The principal bedroom has a large window looking down the beach towards Elie, and a further window with views over the front garden and across the Firth of Forth. It has an en suite bathroom and a dressing area with fitted wardrobes. The second bedroom sits off a small corridor beyond the dining / sitting room. It has an adjacent shower room. Both bath / shower rooms feature Duravit fittings and Grohe shower and tap fittings. From the corridor there is a hatch with Ramsay ladder to access the loft space above. Immediately beside the front door is a utility room with excellent storage and plumbing for appliances.

The garden overlooks the beach and offers incredible panoramic views. Stone steps from the cottage lead down to a paved terrace at the top of the garden. There is a small storage shed here. The garden is fully enclosed by stone walls and flanked on either side by stocked flower beds. There is external lighting, and power supply socket. A further paved terrace immediately overlooking the beach. Next to this terrace, a hatch opens up to stone steps leading down to a cellar / garden store.

Location

White Cottage is situated in a beautiful and hugely desirable setting overlooking Earlsferry beach. Outstanding panoramic views stretch across Elie Bay and along the beach towards Elie, with the iconic Elie Granary and Elie Ness Lighthouse in view.

The connected villages of Elie and Earlsferry are popular holiday destinations due to the unspoilt sandy beaches, accessible golf courses and range of water sports available. Whilst situated by the beach, White Cottage is just a short walk from Earlsferry High Street, and well positioned for Elie Golf Course and the shops, cafés and restaurants of Elie.

Elie and Earlsferry are in the East Neuk of Fife, famed for its picturesque fishing villages and sandy beaches, with Elie boasting one of the finest. Sailing, wind surfing and other water sports are available at Elie Harbour and there are two golf courses, one the acclaimed 18 hole course and a short 9 hole course suitable for beginners. There are also golf practice facilities, several hard tennis courts and a bowling green. Elie Sports Club offers group and individual coaching in golf and tennis during school holidays. Elie is well served by pubs and cafés including the renowned Ship Inn, and the historic 19th Hole tavern and restaurant in Earlsferry.

St Andrews, "the home of golf" and the setting for one of Britain’s oldest universities, is only 13 miles away. There are traditional links golf courses at nearby Crail, Leven and Lundin Links and new courses at Kingsbarns and St Andrews Bay.
