Description

Pulling back the bi-folding doors on to their garden, the new owners of the house at Bernard Close will be able to step out into their garden for morning coffee on summer days. Their brand new, four-bedroom, executive home has been designed with contemporary, indoor-outdoor living in mind, explains the current owner. “The idea behind this property was always to create a good-sized family home that opened up easily on to its garden,” she says. “It was important to me that it had a large kitchen, dining and living room that catered well for modern family living. With doors that can be opened right up during the warmer months, this superb space also flows straight on to the garden, making it ideal for family living all year round.”

EXCELLENT LOCATION

The plot for the new property was chosen because of its exceptional position in Dunstable. “You can walk into town from here in just two minutes and yet because the house is in a cul-de-sac situation it is always very quiet – it almost feels like you are in the country at times,” she suggests. “It is well located for schools, shops and the train station, as well as Luton Airport and the M1 motorway. It is very easy to travel into London from here if you need to commute. Lots of people who live in this area travel in every day. Yet at the same time, there are parks and beautiful places to walk close by.”

A WARM WELCOME

Set back with a driveway and a garage, the property is entered from the front via a central hall. To the left, this opens into a useful sitting room, snug or study. “This front room could have a variety of different uses, including as a playroom or home office. It could be perfect for someone seeking some quiet time away from the rest of the family for a spell.” There is a ground-floor cloakroom and access from the hall into the garage. “The whole of downstairs has underfloor heating,” she observes. “This includes the garage, so you can arrive home in the winter, get out of your car and walk into the house without getting cold.”

ALL SEASONS

Beyond the hall, the house opens up to reveal its spectacular kitchen, dining and living room. This is very much the jewel in the crown of the handsome new house. “This wonderful, light space will be the heart of the home – it is where the family will gather to chat, relax and cook meals together at the end of the day.” To one side of the space, the beautiful kitchen diner has been fitted with white, contemporary, high-gloss units and light work surfaces. There is a peninsula breakfast bar and ample space for a dining table and chair. The appliances here are all Neff and there is a Quooker boiling water tap. “There is also lots of room in here for comfortable seating. This is where the family can gather to watch television. In the summer, the bi-folding doors will be opened right up so the children can play outside and the adults can relax or entertain their friends out in the sunshine.”

BEAUTIFUL BEDROOMS

Three of the bedrooms are on the first floor of the house. These include the master bedroom along the back, which is a sizeable room with two windows overlooking the garden, plus an en suite shower room. The other two bedrooms at this level share the family bathroom. “Then there is a lovely bedroom on the top floor of the house, which is extremely light as it has skylight windows. This also has its own shower room and could be perfect for a teenager or older child, perhaps. It would also make a wonderful guest bedroom.”

SUMMER DAYS

The garden, which has a patio, is something of a blank canvas to be finished off by new owners in a style of their choosing. “There is space out here for children to play and for adults to sit outside and have a drink with friends in the summer,” she says. When the weather is fine, the new owners may wish to head off into the Dunstable Downs, just 15 minutes away, where there are miles of footpaths through the undulating landscape or to take the children off to one of the nearby parks. “Whoever moves here is going to have everything they need right on the doorstep,” she adds. “This is a great location to live in and everything about the house has been carefully planned with great attention to detail.”
