Situation
The Smithy is situated on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula and has an attractive and peaceful position in the little hamlet known as Glenbarr.

The property is within walking distance to the local primary school, Glenbarr Primary. The village is about a 15 minute drive from Campbeltown Town Centre, where there are a number of busy retail shops, cinema, local harbour and marina, leisure center, two supermarkets, health centre, hospital and the local Airport, with flights taking less than 30 minutes to get from Campbeltown to Glasgow.

The area is surrounded by stunning local beaches, one of which is situated at Machrihanish which also host the very popular Machrihanish Golf Course.

The village of Glenbarr set up its own development association in 2018 called the Glenbarr CDA they have their own website explaining how they generate income for their community using renewables.
There is a small well stocked shop in Muasdale (c2.2 miles) which caters for everyday needs and requirements. Additionally, Glenbarr store and Garden Centre with café.
From Tarbert there are ferry links to Islay and Portavadie, which gives access to an alternative route to Glasgow via Dunoon and Gourock. The ferry to beautiful Gigha from Tayinloan is 10 minutes to the north of the property. For sporting/outdoor enthusiasts, the links course of Machrihanish is of international acclaim and attracts many visitors. An additional 18-hole golf course known as the Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club has also recently opened. Tarbert has a challenging 18-hole course and there are 9-hole courses in Carradale and on the island of Gigha. The 18-hole Dunvaverty Golf Course is at Southend. The 3 mile golden beach of Machrihanish Bay is well known for windsurfing and surf canoeing. World class sailing is available with access to either Loch Fyne at Tarbert or the west coast and the Inner Hebrides from West Loch Tarbert. The Crinan Canal also connects Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig with Loch Crinan and on to Mull and the Hebrides. Productive sea fishing from shore and boat is available locally and there are trout and salmon opportunities by permit in surrounding rivers and hill lochs. The countryside is a delight in which to walk or cycle with nearby access to 90 mile circular Kintyre Way, and there is no shortage of scenic routes and places of archaeological and historical interest to visit.

Directions
From Glasgow take the A82 and A83 to reach the west coast town/port of Tarbert. Take the A83 out of Tarbert following signs for Campbeltown.
