For high street shopping and markets, trot to Catford or Lewisham. You can also pick up DLR trains at Lewisham Station (for Canary Wharf and Bank).

Green spaces are pleasingly-plentiful round this way: Mountsfield and Lewisham Parks being your closest, then you've got delightful Ladywell Fields and beyond that - Hilly Fields, toward Brockley.
