The 281 sqm main residence has a one bedroom apartment plus an enclosed garage and storeroom on the lower level, a two-bedroom home on the main level, and a rooftop bedroom, currently used as a storage area.

The unique 101 sqm pool house offers complete poolside facilities including a stone bar with shelves and mirrors, high beamed ceiling, a sleeping loft, a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, BBQ, plenty cupboard space, and a comfortable sitting area. The owners have provided a built-in stereo sound system as well as flat screen TV. There is also a full bathroom with a wall to wall walk-in shower, vanity unit, toilet and bidet. Stairs lead from the pool house main level to a self-contained one-bedroom apartment on the lower level which also has its own private entry from the garden level.

The owners have designed, built and maintained the entire property with great care and love. Their passion for the home and its environment is readily apparent and the home is indeed an immense pleasure to view from the majestic views right down to the finest details.

Access could not be easier, just a few minutes drive from the National Road, off a quiet tarmac village lane, and down a concrete driveway. Walking distance to the village centre, all the fine amenities plus the beaches at Kolymbari are just a five-minute drive, and Chania and the regional Chania airport are just 25 km and 35 km away respectively. Marathokefala is known for its famous historical cave of St John the Hermit.

All white goods are included; some of the furniture is available by separate negotiation.

We have recently returned having spent three weeks in this villa with our family and cannot praise this villa highly enough. There was nothing that the owner hadn't thought of to make our stay more enjoyable including music CDs, movie DVDs and a selection of books along with a very well equipped kitchen. The villa is very comfortable & spacious and being on two levels meant that we (the grandparents) could have our own space and also be with the family on the upper floor for evening meals and drinks on the balcony which looks across at the beautiful White Mountains and surrounding countryside.

Everything is immaculately kept and very clean and exactly as shown in the photographs. He even provides towels for use around the pool, something we have never come across before when renting a villa. There is a large family bathroom beside the pool, with a shower and toilet. The pool is amazing and the view is breath taking.

The gardens are quite amazing with olive and fruit trees and some beautiful flowers, particularly the beautiful Angels Trumpets which flowered for the last couple of days of our stay. There is also a herb garden which clients are welcome to use if they do their own cooking. The downstairs apartment has a balcony that overlooks the garden and is so quiet and peaceful. Nothing to be heard but birdsong.

We all enjoyed our stay at the villa, which was in a fantastic location to explore the Eastern side of Crete.

This was a beautiful villa in a beautiful location with an absolutely fabulous pool. We have never stayed anywhere where we have been made to feel so welcome and where the host was as generous with provisions and gifts. The pool was immaculately clean and the information pack was both exceptionally helpful and extremely informative with some great suggestions for trips, restaurants and general information. The incessant chirruping of the wildlife and the spectacular swooping swallows into the pool in the morning were a Creten delight , not to mention the beautifully maintained gardens bursting with ripening fruit and olives that produce delicious Olive Oil (thanks to our host). The villa afforded amazing privacy, the pool area was totally secluded and had amazing views.

We have stayed in some lovely villas in (mainly) Greek Islands and mainland Greece - with many of them in the Western Crete area too. We have to say, though, that in common with all previous reviews for this villa, it is the best we have stayed in, by far.
It is a spacious villa in a beautiful location that will not disappoint. The villa is on a large plot on a hillside with great views of the mountains on the right and the sea to the left. - a lovely position and a view we never tired of.

Everything worked well and was clearly well-maintained. We kept saying how fortunate we were to have found this property and owner.

It is exceptionally well equipped - there was nothing in the kitchen that I felt was missing - everything was to hand - and spotlessly clean. The information kept in the villa was comprehensive and really useful. As were the variety of CDs to listen to.

The layout of the villa was such that our party (my husband and myself; and my sister and her husband - all over 60!) had relative privacy in more or less separate accommodation - just coming together on the first floor for meals and drinks over-looking the sea
The owner could not have done anything else make our holiday more enjoyable. A welcome meal with Wine and Raki was awaiting us on our arrival, which was wonderful after an early start. We were also given home-made produce, all of which was absolutely delicious. We were encouraged to pick fresh herbs and a variety of fruit from the beautifully maintained garden; Additionally we were given some Olive Oil (produced from the trees in the grounds), to take home with us.

The large pool ranging from one to two metres in depth was fabulous to swim in and always clean (it is a chemical free pool, using salt - a boon for Asthma sufferers). It was cleaned daily early in the morning, and whilst some of our party were up and about at that time - it was maintained in a very unobtrusive manner

We were so sorry to leave the villa. We never did get to take the short walk up through the village to see the cave there - guess we'll just have to come back soon!
