Description

Silverbeck is a most appealing detached family house which dates back to 1894. Constructed of brick under a slate tiled roof, the house has been extended twice within the last 40 or so years. The accommodation on offer is both flexible and light and presented in good decorative order. There are a number of features typical of the period throughout the house including sash windows, picture rails, fireplaces, panelled doors and stripped floorboards. The spacious kitchen/breakfast room has a range of floor and wall based wooden units which incorporate a Neff electric oven, a fridge/freezer and provide space and plumbing for a dishwasher. An archway opens out to the dining area which has doors to the garden on both sides, giving access to the dining terrace and the garden to the rear. The utility room has plumbing for washing machine and dryer and a door to the garden. The dining room, which is located to the rear of the house, has doors to the garden. The delightful sitting room has a feature stone fireplace with a stone surround, and doors out to the dining terrace. The family room, which is located to the front of the house, has built-in cupboards either side of the cast iron fireplace, which has decorative tiles inserted. Some of the panelled doors have been stripped back to their original pine, together with the entrance hallway floor.

On the first floor there are 5 bedrooms, all accessed off a spacious landing which is approached via a pine staircase and has access to the loft. The principal bedroom incorporates a dressing room with a range of built-in shelving and hanging space, and leads through to an en suite shower room which has tongue-and-groove panelling. Bedroom 2 serves as a guest bedroom and has an attractive cast iron fireplace with a pine surround and a white pedestal hand washbasin. Two of the additional bedrooms have a range of built-in cupboards.

Outside the property is approached via a gravelled driveway which provides parking for a number of vehicles and is accessed via a wooden five-bar gate alongside a pedestrian gate. The large garden is extremely well stocked, with a variety of mature plants and shrubs and offers both privacy and space and is a key feature of this most appealing property. There is a separate driveway to the right-hand side of the house which is tarmacadam and leads up to the double garage, which has metal up and over doors and incorporates a spacious workshop with electricity (the neighbour does have right of access across this driveway). The front garden is mainly laid to lawn and features a large willow tree and laurel hedging to the right-hand side. On the left-hand side of the property is hurdle fencing incorporating a pedestrian wooden gate leading through to a large expanse of lawn which continues to the far end of the garden. On the right-hand side is a raised paved dining terrace, enclosed by a brick wall, beyond which is a raised ornamental pond with a pathway leading alongside the garage to an enclosed vegetable area, with 6 raised beds. Alongside this is situated a greenhouse and wooden garden shed. A small stream continues along the garden to the far end, where there are a number of mature trees and shrubs and a wooden child's treehouse.
