Full description:
Cleland is a mining village adjacent to the large town of Motherwell, and borders the old Ravenscraig steel works, this was demolished around 10 years ago, and was to be the site of some 3000 affordable homes for north Lanarkshire council, but due to the high level of contamination on the site it has been elected to build industrial buildings on the site, this has brought the Cleland site back in to focus, the site has a railway station on the main Glasgow-Edinburgh line for to assist commuters The site is approx 110 acres of prime building land, which has had no industrial history, it has been virgin farm land, the top 40 acres which was sold some 10 years ago was developed to executive houses that were sold at approx £750,000 to 1.1m. If this site was developed in to affordable housing you can get a grant of up to 60% of the construction cost and the remaining 40% on a 30 year rental income, which you can retain or sell the rent roll. If a mixture of semi-detached, maisonettes, and a parade of shops underneath, and some 3 story flats, you could put 2000+ homes on this site. North Lanarkshire Council have a need for some 4000+ homes at this time and we are sure they would enter in to a shared ownership scheme on this site; they have some 6500 people on their waiting lists for homes.
