History
Woore Manor probably dates from Sir David Ap Cynrig in the Middle Ages and certainly from the 16th Century when record keeping began. Further additions were made to the property in the 17th and 18th Centuries. The Kenrick family originally owned the property from the early 17th Century until the mid 19th Century and again from 1965 until the present day.
Douglas Kenrick was the third generation of his branch of the family to be born in New Zealand. He always yearned to buy back his family's ancestral home and first visited Woore Manor in 1938. He and his wife both fell in love with the property on their honeymoon in 1942. After the war, he and his family moved permanently to the Far East, first Hong Kong, then Japan. When Woore Manor became available in 1965, he was successful in buying the property and became Lord of the Manor.
