Yvoire is an elegant family home, situated at the end of a private country lane amid 0.73 acres (STMS) of beautiful landscaped gardens. The interiors boast five delightful bedrooms, four reception rooms and an independent self-contained studio flat, while outside there is a triple garage.

The Story
In the summer, the children have played football and the adults have sat out and listened to the sound of birdsong.
In the winter, they have relaxed together in the conservatory and family room.
The family moved to Yvoire, which means ivory in French, five years ago. With four children, they were looking for a spacious home, with a good garden, in a tranquil location.
We had been looking for a couple of years before we found this, said the owner. This was the first house we saw that seemed to have it all. When we saw it, it was just a building site - but we just loved the space and the layout.
And she added: This has turned out to be such a great house for all of us.

CONTEMPORARY STYLE

Built by a well-known local firm, the house, which features five bedrooms, as well as a self-contained one-bedroom apartment, was new when the couple bought it.
They quickly decided to bring in an experienced interior designer to oversee their choice of décor, and also made a few changes to the original designs, adding their own style to the bathrooms, for example.
The house is traditional from the outside but quite modern inside, she said. In the ground floor cloakroom, I have used Phillippe Starck while the upstairs bathrooms are Duravit and Jacuzzi.

MODERN LIVING

The layout, however, was ideal for them. The large kitchen flows into the conservatory and family room, which makes entertaining easy. These areas are all bright, contemporary spaces.
When we have people here, we might go into the conservatory for drinks or for lunch. Doors from there, and from other rooms, can be opened up on to the garden, she said.
She continued: When it is just us, we tend to eat in the kitchen. The dining room is a bit wacky in its style but it looks good and it is nice to use it for entertaining.

UNIQUE LOOKS

Upstairs, all the bedrooms have an individual style too. They all have en-suite bathrooms, which give all family members, as well as guests, some privacy.
The children helped choose the way they wanted their rooms to look - and their choices reflect what they enjoy doing, she said.
The interior designer spoke to each of us in turn and then a lot of thought went into her ideas.
The master bedroom, which is large, is decorated in shades of aqua and taupe. The room has doors out on to a balcony, where the owners can sit in the sunshine over a cup of tea and enjoy the view across their garden.
The top floor of the house was made into a games room for us, which now has a snooker table in it, she added.

PLACE TO RELAX

As well as being appealing for its size and design, the house was also attractive because it backed on to woodland. This is what the family will miss most when they leave, said the owner.
As well as bringing a sense of the countryside to the outdoor areas, the situation gives the house itself a sense of calm.
It is amazing - we can sit outside and hear nothing but the birds singing yet this is a great location because we have such fantastic access to London, she said.
I love the position of the house and the garden. There is such an air of tranquillity.

Accommodation
GROUND FLOOR

Tucked away at the end of a private road we discover Yvoire, a wonderful family home, Yvoire which means 'ivory' in French. Enter through double electric wrought iron gates and you will gain your first glimpse of this substantial house, sitting proudly amid the mature trees. An enormous expanse of block paviour, plus a triple garage allows for plenty of parking while the driveway reflects the warm brick elevations of the external facade. Stepping into the spacious reception hall with its expanse of glossy cream tiled flooring the natural flow of this house is evident. A dramatic oak staircase sits centrally and double oak doors invite us to explore the ground floor. A light and airy study/office is ideal for those wanting to work from home, while the opulent drawing room boasts a beautiful triple aspect. Double doors open onto the south facing rear garden. A striking pale stone fireplace and solid oak flooring, perfect for relaxed family gatherings. The present owners worked closely with their interior designer to enhance the beauty of Yvoire and this is evident within the statement dining room which is spacious with a dramatic use of mirrors, chrome and glass, superb for formal dinner parties.

Moving on, note the Phillippe Starck cloakroom before moving into the heart of the home, the fabulous 28 ft kitchen/breakfast room. This room is an excellent size for informal family meals around the granite central island. A range of stylish cream cabinets provide plenty of storage and complement the glossy black ceramic flooring. There is a mass of hi tech equipment and integrated appliances including a Smeg six ring gas range cooker, an AEG wall mounted oven, Miele steam oven, Miele coffee station and an integrated fridge and dishwasher. Additionally there is a capacious laundry room which houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and leads conveniently into a further cloakroom. Next, discover the family/TV room, a little less formal but created with style. As with the entire rear of the house double doors open to embrace the garden and terrace. A stunning conservatory is added to the side of the home, a lovely inviting space to sample aperitifs before dinner and absorb the beauty of the landscaped gardens.

FIRST FLOOR ACCOMMODATION

Ascending the pale oak staircase we can investigate the upper floor. The master bedroom truly deserves its title, a sumptuous suite with a magnificent balcony where you can relax and listen to the sound of birdsong and appreciate glorious views of the landscaped gardens and mature woodland. There is a dressing room with a plethora of wardrobes leading into the en-suite bathroom which has twin basins. Warm hues of cream stone enhanced by hints of brown make this a tranquil haven in which to relax in the roll top bath or shower. Four further delightful bedrooms complete this floor, one with an en-suite bathroom and the others with contemporary shower rooms. All are fitted with either Duravit or Jacuzzi sanitary ware to enhance the luxurious feel. A set of oak double doors guide via a pine spiral staircase, up to the games room on the second floor. This expanse is nearly 47 ft long and is a great area for a pool table, air hockey, table football or perhaps a cinema room.

The flexibility of Yvoire does not stop in the main house. Over the triple garage there is an independent studio flat, which has its own private entrance, kitchen, en-suite and studio bedroom /living area. This additional accommodation would make a splendid annexe for guests, staff or teenagers wanting their own privacy.

Setting the Scene
Yvoire has been designed to blend in with its landscaped garden and the grounds of just under an acre have provided the family with all the space they wanted. Manicured lawns and mature borders and the sculpture of ancient trees all make this an ideal and tranquil setting.
As well as the large terrace, where they often enjoy summer barbecues, and the sunny balcony, there is also plenty of lawn and lots of mature plants and trees. To one side, is a decorative area that features pieces of slate.
The garden is pretty, she said. It has also been good for a family. In the summer the children are always in and out a lot - the younger ones play football out there.

Within easy Reach
Just a short distance away is the renowned Burnham Beeches, regarded as one of the finest woodland tracts in England - ideal for those who enjoy walking.
Buckinghamshire is known for its excellent choice of schools, both primary and secondary, with both state and private schools within easy reach.
Caldicott Prep School for boys is located at neighbouring Farnham Royal.
We are just five minutes from the M40 and 10 minutes from the M25 and the M4, said the owner. It is very easy to commute from here into London and, because the major airports are so handy, travel abroad is also easy too.

DIRECTIONS:
Take the M40 motorway, signposted towards Birmingham and Oxford. Exit the M40 at junction two and take the first exit at the roundabout, onto the A355 signposted Slough. Continue past Beaconsfield service station and after approximately 2.5 miles, turn left at the traffic lights onto One Pin Lane. Continue along and bear left as the road curves. The private road leading to Yvoire will be found on your right hand side.
