The house is located on the edge of the village of Preston and within easy walking distance are an excellent range of local amenities including shops, two public houses and a fine 14th century church. More comprehensive facilities are available at Weymouth (3 miles) including an excellent marina. The town is nationally renowned for its sailing facilities together with its lovely sandy beach and safe swimming. All the sailing events for the 2012 Olympics will be held at Weymouth and Portland. The coastline has now been accorded World Heritage Status. From the town there is a regular train service to London (Waterloo approximately 2½ hours). Weymouth has an 18 hole golf course and there is also golf at Came Down (3 miles). The county town of Dorchester is 5 miles away. Description

Evening Hill is a stunning architect designed house that was built to an exacting specification by a builder for his own occupation in 2006. Constructed with Purbeck stone and rendered elevations under slate roof, the house offers beautifully appointed accommodation of great style. There is engineered oak flooring throughout the ground floor with Travertine tiles to the cloakroom, kitchen and utility room. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped and fitted with solid oak units and granite work surfaces and in the sitting room is an attractive built-in "Cosmos" fire with blow heater. There is gas fired central heating with underfloor heating and the windows are double glazed with oak frames. Casement doors lead from the sun room, and two of the bedrooms to the large first floor balcony from which there are superb views. There is a grey water harvesting system with a 42,000 litre capacity tank under the garage and this water is used for the toilets and outside taps. A domestic sprinkler system has been installed in the house in case of fire and the property has the remainder of the 10 year NHBC guarantee

Outside
Wrought iron electric gates open on to a paved driveway which widens to form a parking and turning area in front of the substantial detached garage. This has Purbeck stone elevations under a slate roof with two electrically operated up-and-over doors and parking space to the side and compost area behind. The paved driveway continues up to the house and beside this is an attractive lawn with some flower borders, trees and shrubs and a lovely decking area. There is access on both sides of the house through timber gates to the rear garden which has a paved and gravelled area, chicken run and raised boxed flower and vegetable beds. There is a further decking area from which there are fine views across to the White Horse and Dorset Ridgeway. Panel fencing together with a high beech hedge provides privacy and the elevated position of the house means that there are spectacular views across to the sea and Weymouth.

Directions

The village of Preston lies on the A353 road. If coming from the east heading towards Weymouth, on entering the village drive past the turning to Sutton Poyntz and continue over the pedestrian crossing. Just after the sign for The Bridge Inn public house, turn right into Seven Acres Road. Proceed up the hill and just as the road starts to bear left, go straight across on to a paved driveway marked for "Evening Hill" (and also The Oak House and Robinia Lodge) on a stone entrance pillar. Evening Hill will be found at the very top of the paved drive.
