Shore Cottage is situated in a historic fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife. A picturesque old harbour, narrow streets, cobbled lanes and
old fisherman’s cottages characterise the village. Anstruther is one of a cluster of fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife about 9 miles
from St Andrews. It is well served with local shops including an award winning fish and chip shop (The Anstruther Fish Bar). The village also has several popular inns.

Dundee and St Andrews (home of Scotland’s oldest University) have a more comprehensive range of shops, restaurants, cinemas and a lively nightlife. Both are just a short drive away. Leuchars and Cupar have railway stations with regular services north and south. Dundee Airport operates flights to London, and Edinburgh International Airport is just 47 miles away.

Shore Cottage is ideally placed to enjoy the many attractions in the surrounding countryside and coastline. There are superb beaches at Elie and St Andrews and the Fife coastal path is a spectacular walk linking all the East Neuk villages. The area offers some of the best golf courses in Scotland including the Old Course at St Andrews which was the venue for the 2010 Open Championship.

Anstruther has its own golf course and Crail and Elie also have courses of international regard. Amongst local activities the Anstruther Muster attracts as many as 100 boats each year.
Boat trips go to the Isle of May in the summer and neighbouring Pittenweem is host to one of Scotland’s most famous international summer art festivals.
