With its Roman, Viking and Saxon origins, atmospheric Derby in the East Midlands is undoubtedly a history lover's dream. It also attracts property hunters seeking a home in a Midlands city that strikes a wonderful balance between old and new. Luckily, just about every accommodation preference can be catered for here. There is property in Derby to suit most budgets. Choose from highly desirable detached residences, which are perfect for families, charming Edwardian townhouses, imposing late Victorian houses (some as gated properties), double-bedroomed bay fronted period flats, and modern luxury apartments. Home seekers looking to buy in Derby (Derbyshire's 'capital') would do well to take their time when searching, as the city's accommodation offerings are simply so diverse. Singles, couples and families (not to mention commercial property hunters) may chance upon a "hidden property gem" in the most unlikely of places.
As you'd expect, transport links to centrally located Derby are excellent, be that by car, coach or train. Motorways serving the city are the A6, A50, A38 and A52 (leave the M1 at junctions 24 or 25 and you are a mere 15 minutes from the city centre). Your nearest airport will be East Midlands.
As well as enjoying walks in the Derbyshire countryside, residents of the city have ready access to over forty nature reserves. Family nights out in Derby can be found at the Assembly Rooms, Guildhall Theatre and Derby Theatre. QUAD Derby - the city's newest arts and media centre - is home to two cinema screens. Finally, as well as Derby itself being so tempting to new home seekers looking to move to or within the East Midlands, there are also various delightful villages and towns local to the city where homes are available to buy or rent. Loughborough, Nottingham, Matlock, and Mansfield are all well worth a look.
