Swansea Overview

The coastal city of Swansea has a population approaching 250,000 and is the second largest city in Wales.

Main attractions of the city include the historic Swansea Castle; the remains can be seen in the city centre and date back to the 13th century. The ruins also spread to reach the Gower Peninsula which was the first area in Britain to be named an 'area of outstanding natural beauty'.

The county of Swansea is also the home to the former fishing village of Mumbles found at the western end of Swansea bay. Swansea boasts spectacular scenery making it an excellent spot for walking and cycling.

Swansea has two universities whose campuses can be found in the city. Swansea University ranked 93rd in the Guardian's University League Table for 2011 and has a population of over 10,000 students.

The city can easily be reached via the M4 motorway and First Great Western trains.
