Located on the Glamorgan Heritage coast, Southerndown beach is a fantastic spot and popular with local surfers. Porthcawl is a town on the south coast of Wales in the County Borough of Bridgend. It is a holiday resort and home to a large static caravan park known as Trecco Bay. The River Ogmore estuary is flanked by Ogmore beach on one side and the dunes of Merthyr Mawr on the other. The rocky shoreline is well-known as a rock climbing location. It is an interesting place geologically with a variety of fossils clearly visible. Both Ogmore and Southerndown have a history of organised shipwrecking similar to tales from Cornwall.
