There are ten award-winning Museums spread along the valley beside the wild River Severn - still spanned by the world's first Iron Bridge. Lightmoor is also a short distance from Telford Shopping Centre, which is in the final stages of a £250 million regeneration programme, this has created an abundance of new eateries, IMAX cinema, bowling alley, ice rink, over 150 retail shops and much more.

Just a few minutes drive away, Telford town centre caters for all the family. The Town Park is great for kids, with aerial walkways and adventure play, and the town has a long list of department stores, supermarkets and independent specialist shops.

The town of Shrewsbury, half an hour’s drive away, is a fine old market town. It has a further selection of big-name shops and attractions, and is famous for its castle, spires and half-timbered medieval houses.

The countryside surrounding 1779 has it all – beautiful scenery, a world heritage site to visit and lovely walks, both easy and challenging. Once described as ‘the most extraordinary district in the world’, the Ironbridge Gorge is still a remarkable and beautiful place today.
