      Some information about The Vale of Evesham.

      The historic riverside town of Evesham nestles within the renowned Vale of Evesham, which is often referred to as the fruit and vegetable basket of England due to its exceptional fertile soil and unique micro climate. A tradition that continues today with our area supplying fruit, vegetables and salad products throughout the country and Europe.

      The medieval town was developed within the meander of the River Avon and until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1540, enjoyed a stunning Abbey, the remains of which are still there to be seen. The town was also the site for the Battle of Evesham in 1265 during the 'Second Barons War' which saw the defeat of Simon de Montfort.

      Today Evesham has grown to be a thriving and well situated destination of choice for buyers as we are situated between Stratford upon Avon, the Cotswold Hills and Cheltenham, with excellent access to the national road network, a mainline train station to London Paddington and Birmingham airport in easy reach.

      The River Avon is a major tourist attraction during the summer with its extensive riverside parks providing activities such as fishing, boating and walking, two children's play areas and skate park. The town has a thriving Rowing Club which holds an annual regatta, whilst Evesham running club hosts an ever popular 10k run in July. A river festival weekend is also held during July and a highlight of the local calendar along with a national three day fishing festival during August. The world famous local asparagus has its own festival held every year by The British Asparagus Growers Association.

      Major retail brands and leisure outlets are provided around the town, the Riverside Shopping Centre and outlying retail parks. Names such as Marks & Spencer Food, Next, Argos, The Range, Aldi and Tesco are all within the town. Evesham Country Park is situated just out of the town with its garden centre, retail shops including Fat Face and Mountain Warehouse, a miniature railway and wildlife centre.

      Jon James - Director
      Jon is a father of two children and a step father to three more. In his spare time Jon is an active member of the Vale Golf Club playing and running competition golf at the club as he is the current competition secretary.

      Starting his 31st year in 2018 working within estate agency, Jon has spent his working life listing and selling property in the Vale of Evesham, giving him an unprecedented knowledge of the local property market.

      Having successfully run his own office for a large corporate company becoming a branch manager at just 23 he left there in 2001 to join the then named Gusterson Palmer a local independent estate agency with only a minimal market share. Within the first year, Gusterson Palmer were market leaders within the area for both new listings and property sales. Since then its a position the company has consistently retained through providing sincere market advice, a positive marketing plan and tough negotiation when agreeing a sale.

      After purchasing the company we became Gusterson Palmer & James in 2010 and Jon intends to continue pushing the company towards an exciting future as Evesham and the surrounding area continues to grow and expand.

      Andrew Leggett - Director
      Andrew shares the same work ethic and professional attitude as Jon and having worked for the company since 2004 he is now a co owner of the business. He too is a member of the NAEA (National Association of Estate Agents) and his approachable manner and enthusiasm for the job makes him an important member of the team. Andrew carries out market appraisals for both selling and letting and is well known for his sensible marketing advice. Outside of work Andrew enjoys all things sporty and regularly plays five a side football. He lives in Evesham and has two daughters.

      Jack is a vital part of our team and is a qualified member of the National Association of estate agents. When away from work Alex is a keen equestrian and regularly competes at events around the country.

      Kelly joined Gusterson Palmer & James in 2007 bringing with her, extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of administration and office procedures. She also deals with the Sales Progression in the office providing a crucial link between purchasers, vendors and solicitors. Kelly has lived and worked in Evesham all of her life, she is married to Danny, has two daughters and likes to keep fit by making good use of the facilities at Evesham Leisure Centre and running.

      Colin admits to having a passion for the lettings industry which is just what is required as head of our residential lettings department. Colin has achieved ARLA (Association of Residential Lettings Agents) Level 3 Certificate in Residential Letting and Property Management, he is married to Sarah, has two daughters and along with his family his interests include classic cars and playing various musical instruments.

      Karen is a familiar face in both Evesham and Broadway having lived locally for many years.
