      Dear Mrs Batten

      Thank you for coming out to appraise my late mother's property for Probate valuation and future sale, and I must apologise for not replying to you sooner; life has been so hectic over the past few days.

      Thank you, too, for the hard copies of valuation and marketing strategy, and for the Slade Legal quotation.

      It's never an easy task to dispose of a family property, especially on one's own. I was impressed that you listened carefully to what I explained to you and that you picked up on just how much of my late parents' work is represented in the house itself and the garage/workshop in particular, and just what it means to me as my 'home'. Not every Estate Agency is sensitive enough to understand that a property is much more than just bricks and mortar, location and a final price in terms of hard cash. It was good for me to describe how the house used to be when I was a child - the kitchen range, the copper in the corner of the kitchen, the inspection pit in the garage etc, and like you, I could have chatted for much longer had time allowed.

      Obviously there is still a great deal of work to be done before  it is ready for sale, meanwhile, please be assured that I shall think of Hodson's favourably when choosing the right agency for me to proceed.
