Buying Through Us
  • paragraph

Initial contact with us will usually be via a website, over the phone or in person at one of our nine offices. You can continue to get up-to-date lists of available properties on an ad hoc basis but you may prefer to register with us. This will allow us to send you details of properties just as they come to the market or when prices are revised.

Our applicant database is web-based and shared instantly across all eleven offices so that you need only sign-up once to be matched with any property that fits your requirements.

You can register, update your details and requirements or de-register through this website. You will receive notification of new properties via e-mail and can download full colour particulars from your web portfolio.

Alternatively, you can also register by contacting one of our offices where a member of staff will take your details and discuss the current market and properties available with you. We endeavour to get all staff to see the property but, where this has not been possible, someone who has seen it can ring you back.

If any property is of interest please contact the relevant office to discuss it further and to make arrangements for a viewing.

Once you make an offer it will be submitted in writing to the vendors. The staff will need to collect personal details from you, if not already known, such as the position of your own sale and availability of finance.

We will advise you of the outcome of any offer. Once an offer is accepted, we will notify your solicitors at the same time as the vendors. Because agents can speak to both buyers' and sellers' solicitors we will keep in touch with you during the sale process with updates, up to the point at which contracts are exchanged .

Following exchange of contracts we will liaise with you and the vendor about the hand over of keys at completion. This usually takes place in our office but with planning a member of staff may be able to meet you at the property.

    Sue Lowe
    Residential Assistant

Sue has spent many years in the West Country and joined Symonds & Sampson about 8 years ago. Estate agency was a late choice. First came a bit of travel and a solicitors' office in Australia, then a building society back in Devon followed by a BA in English and Education in Oxford and some years teaching English language and literature.

An interest in houses was sparked by renovating and extending her home, and she feels she has found her niche working with S and S in the sales department. Sue's main interest is long distance walking, with the West Highland Way and mountains in Madeira ticked off this year. Other interests include theatre, both as audience and a participant, reading and writing groups, classical music particularly live performances and DIY.

They told me they could sell my house and they did
"Rickey found me a buyer in less than a week. The Symonds and Sampson (Axminster) team are polite, efficient, helpful and they get the job done.

If they say they will call you back or chase something up they do it, not next week but now. They told me they could sell my house and they did. I am very happy and would definitely use them again"

proved correct as it sold in eight days
I had spoken to Rickey on several occasions about my mothers house as she was going into a care home. I felt he had the local knowledge necessary and drive to get a sale and this proved correct as it sold in eight days.

We were kept informed throughout and very happy with everyone at Symonds & Sampson

An excellent firm to deal with over our house sale
"We have found Symonds and Sampson an excellent firm to deal with over house sales. All the staff are pleasant, helpful and interested. Mr Stoodley in particular has worked very hard to pull off the sale of our house 'North View' in a difficult market with very few viewings. We are extremely pleased and recognise that he has gone the extra mile to achieve a good result."

Made the whole affair stress and hassle free
Acting as Executor of my late mothers estate on behalf of my sister and myself which involved the sale of her house, so I engaged with 3 separate estate agents. The property being of non-traditional construction, but set in an impressive plot made it difficult to value and certainly all three estate agents valuations varied substantially.

We decided to opt for Symonds and Sampson for two reasons. The logical one was around their valuation was in the middle of the other two, and second being the friendly and sympathetic way they dealt with us in what is not always the easiest of circumstances.

During the sale process the property showed up some issues that at first were not apparent to any of the estate agents. Upon finding these, which led to a downgrading of the value of the property, I felt that Symonds and Sampson guided us through the options available to us, but always with our interests at heart.

The net result is the property sold in fairly short order after the revised valuation. At all times Symonds and Sampson kept us well informed of progress and made the whole affair stress and hassle free. I would have no hesitation in either engaging them again or recommending them.

The whole process has been very straight forward
Great news that the sale of west Gate has gone through. The whole process has been very straight forward from the outset and we were very pleased to get an offer from the second viewing.

From that point on everything has gone smoothly and S&S staff have tried hard, and succeeded, in keeping both parties informed and involved to the end.

      Very simple and seamless
Thank you very much for your help in the Purchase of Lea Combe, Axminster and the earlier sale of Bakers Mead Shute.

From our very first phone call to you back in January 2015 you have handled our sale and purchases with the upmost of professionalism. Our transactions could have been very difficult as we have been abroad throughout both, but has been made very simple and seamless by not only you but all of the staff at Symonds and Sampson.

       Keep up the good work

Stood out compared to your competitors
I recently viewed a house in Colyton through your office and I just wanted to drop a note to you to say how impressed I was with your team.

From the man I spoke to in the office (Rickey I think) on the Saturday morning to Steph who showed us around, their market knowledge and the follow up call the next day.

The team stood out compared to your competitors. Unfortunately, the house isn't for us but I just wanted to say what a notable difference your team made.
