    Marketing and the London Office

    We are members of The London Office which provides us with a central London base to display and hold particulars of properties for sale. The office is manned by experienced agents and is situated in St James' Place just off St James'. From time to time we hold exhibitions either at the London office or at the Move to the Country Show when members of staff from our local offices meet buyers from the capital and home counties.

Buying Through Us

    Initial contact with us will usually be via a website, over the phone or in person at one of our nine offices. You can continue to get up-to-date lists of available properties on an ad hoc basis but you may prefer to register with us. This will allow us to send you details of properties just as they come to the market or when prices are revised.

    Our applicant database is web-based and shared instantly across all nine offices so that you need only sign-up once to be matched with any property that fits your requirements.

    You can register, update your details and requirements or de-register through this website. You will receive notification of new properties via e-mail and can download full colour particulars from your web portfolio.

    Alternatively, you can also register by contacting one of our offices where a member of staff will take your details and discuss the current market and properties available with you. We endeavour to get all staff to see the property but, where this has not been possible, someone who has seen it can ring you back.

    If any property is of interest please contact the relevant office to discuss it further and to make arrangements for a viewing.

    Once you make an offer it will be submitted in writing to the vendors. The staff will need to collect personal details from you, if not already known, such as the position of your own sale and availability of finance.

    We will advise you of the outcome of any offer. Once an offer is accepted, we will notify your solicitors at the same time as the vendors. Because agents can speak to both buyers' and sellers' solicitors we will keep in touch with you during the sale process with updates, up to the point at which contracts are exchanged .

    Following exchange of contracts we will liaise with you and the vendor about the hand over of keys at completion. This usually takes place in our office but with planning a member of staff may be able to meet you at the property.

    Nigel Sheppard FNAEA, Partner
    Nigel was born in Salisbury and grew up in the Chalke valley where he developed his love of the countryside and rural life. Nigel is one of the best known faces in the industry and an integral part of property related matters in this area commanding respect from people who have sought his wise counsel for over 25 years. He owned his own firm in the Town and merged with Symonds & Sampson over 10 years ago. Nigel lives with his wife Kate in South Dorset and has three children. Any spare time is spent with his family and dogs and helping develop the skills of young people both in the workplace and in various sporting activities.

    Alex Townsend, Residential Sales Manager

    Alex has enjoyed working in the property industry for over 10 years and after employment for one of our competitors, joins us as the Blandford Office Manager.  An amiable, loyal, and self-motivated individual, he is a great communicator and, more importantly, a keen listener.  Alex strongly believes in the very highest standards of customer service through reputation and word of mouth. Alex lives locally with his wife and young daughter.  When not showing a keen interest in science and technology, he might be seen on his motorcycle enjoying Dorset's beautiful countryside.

    Julie joined Symonds and Sampson in 2004 and over the years has worked in various departments gaining valuable experience and skill. Julie is the backbone of the Blandford office and keeps everyone in check, she is extremely competent and is responsible for residential sales, commercial sales and lettings and auctions. Julie is one the most valued and experienced members of staff in the whole company and is respected by colleagues and clients alike. In her spare time Julie loves spending time with her family, she has a passion for music and can often be found amongst the fans at pop concerts.

    Meredith Holmes MNAEA
    Meredith has a wealth of experience in marketing having started her career with a digital marketing company. She is responsible for brochure production and keeping in regular contact with our vendors and purchasers. Meredith joined Symonds and Sampson in 2014 and has already gained a reputation within the firm for being a conscientious and skilled negotiator. She is fast becoming one of the most impressive young employees who understands the business inside out and achieves outstanding results. Meredith is also studying for her estate agency exams. She loves Dorset life and enjoys riding her horse and participating in country pursuits.

    Joseph Paterson
    Joseph was born and bred in Dorset and loves the beautiful countryside he grew up in. He joined Symonds and Sampson in 2015 having started his career with a corporate agency, Joseph is full of enthusiasm and has already gained an incredible amount of knowledge and skill. He is one of our most promising up and coming agents who regularly receives compliments from clients who are impressed with his maturity and his ability to successfully negotiate sales. Joseph is currently studying towards his estate agency exams and hopes to become a licenced estate agent in the near future. Joseph is a keen sportsman and plays in a local football team most weekends.

    Gillian has lived in Dorset all of her life and has a great understanding of the local area.  She has worked for Symonds and Sampson on a part-time basis for many years in a variety of roles giving her broad knowledge across all estate agency activities.

    Rachael James MARLA - Lettings Manager

    Rachael grew up in North Devon and moved to Dorset after taking A Levels where her career in estate agency started in Blandford Forum working for a national company. After five years, the faster way of life of the South East seemed far more exciting and she spent many years working in Henley-On-Thames as a sales manager. Rachael then found that lettings seemed more of a challenge and she studied for her ARLA qualification.

    Family and the beautiful Dorset countryside were sorely missed and she moved back to Shaftesbury 8 years ago starting her career with Symonds and Sampson at the Dorchester Branch covering the then head of lettings for her maternity leave. An opportunity was then given to start the North Dorset lettings department and she is now based in the Blandford office as Head of Lettings with a large property portfolio.

    Rachael enjoys cooking for family and friends and hill walking around the county with her partner John.

    Becky Stimpson
    Becky grew up in East Dorset and after leaving school started her working life in a building society in mortgages and life assurance. She moved to Blandford in 2004 and joined Symonds & Sampson in the residential department where she remained for the next 10 years. In that time she had two children and after having her second child in 2013 Becky took on a new role in the lettings department and now assists the head of lettings.Outside of work, Becky is a member of the committee for a local first school and helps with fundraising and organising events. Becky enjoys days out with her husband and children and is a keen yogi, spending any free time that she does have attending yoga classes or practising at home.
