    Marketing and the London Office

    We are members of The London Office which provides us with a central London base to display and hold particulars of properties for sale. The office is manned by experienced agents and is situated in St James' Place just off St James'. From time to time we hold exhibitions either at the London office or at the Move to the Country Show when members of staff from our local offices meet buyers from the capital and home counties.

Buying Through Us

    Initial contact with us will usually be via a website, over the phone or in person at one of our nine offices. You can continue to get up-to-date lists of available properties on an ad hoc basis but you may prefer to register with us. This will allow us to send you details of properties just as they come to the market or when prices are revised.

    Our applicant database is web-based and shared instantly across all nine offices so that you need only sign-up once to be matched with any property that fits your requirements.

    You can register, update your details and requirements or de-register through this website. You will receive notification of new properties via e-mail and can download full colour particulars from your web portfolio.

    Alternatively, you can also register by contacting one of our offices where a member of staff will take your details and discuss the current market and properties available with you. We endeavour to get all staff to see the property but, where this has not been possible, someone who has seen it can ring you back.

    If any property is of interest please contact the relevant office to discuss it further and to make arrangements for a viewing.

    Once you make an offer it will be submitted in writing to the vendors. The staff will need to collect personal details from you, if not already known, such as the position of your own sale and availability of finance.

    We will advise you of the outcome of any offer. Once an offer is accepted, we will notify your solicitors at the same time as the vendors. Because agents can speak to both buyers' and sellers' solicitors we will keep in touch with you during the sale process with updates, up to the point at which contracts are exchanged .

    Following exchange of contracts we will liaise with you and the vendor about the hand over of keys at completion. This usually takes place in our office but with planning a member of staff may be able to meet you at the property.

    Steve Allen, Partner
    Steve grew up in the home counties and started his working life working in the City trading Commodities and Financial Futures. In 1998 he embarked on a new career in estate agency moving his family down to Somerset in 2001 and has since worked for two prominent local agents based in Sherborne. Steve specialises in residential property of all shapes and sizes to be sold conventionally and by auction. Steve is married to Gigi with grown children and two pointers. Any spare time is spent walking, gardening and playing squash enthusiastically but badly.

    Daniel Magee, Residential Manager

    Daniel travelled extensively before finally setting down roots in Dorset. Working as an estate agent locally since January 2007 he has gained vast amounts of experience in residential sales dealing with all manner of properties and has built himself a reputation for superb customer service balancing his professionalism with charm and empathy.

    Out of the office Daniel is an active sportsman playing for local football and rugby teams.

    Andrea Proudfoot, Residential Assistant
    Andrea has been temping in Axminster office during 2016 and was delighted to be given the opportunity to work with a new team in Bridport. It's a different career for her and so far thoroughly enjoying the challenges. Her previous occupation was running a fitness/dance business from home and co-ordinating two prestigious Spa Studios in Surrey. Andrea moved down to Devon in 2015 and is loving the beautiful countryside with her husband and dog. Any spare time Andrea enjoys yoga, photography and walking.

    Jill Bayliss, Viewing Ambassador
    Jill joined Symonds & Sampson in 2006 as a "Saturday Girl" after a long career as an interpreter, having lived and worked in Rome for many years. You will meet Jill on Saturdays when she is always happy to help you find your dream home, arrange a viewing or take details for selling your property. Currently living in the Bride Valley Jill is a keen photographer - and can often be found along the coast capturing a sunset or the local wildlife.

    Lucy Nolan MARLA, Lettings Manager
    Lucy grew up in North Devon and moved to Dorset in 2005 to live with her now husband Rob. She started working with Symonds & Sampson the same year as PA to the then head of lettings in Dorchester. She obtained her ARLA qualification in 2007 and a year later was promoted to manager of the Bridport lettings office and has recently expanded the department to cover Beaminster as well. Having celebrated a whole decade of working for Symonds & Sampson, Lucy says she very much enjoys the diversity that working in lettings brings

    Jan Turner, Lettings Assistant
    Jan moved down to Bridport from Surrey in 2004 and can highly recommend this delightful town. She joined Symonds & Sampson in 2005 as a multi-tasking secretary and especially enjoys accompanying the Saturday viewings. In her spare time she enjoys walking her two collies (numerous countryside and coastal walks to relish), and tending her garden and chickens. She is a member of the local Toller & Hooke WI and goes to the cinema and theatre as often as possible.  She is also a dab hand at cake decorating and flower arranging.

    Diane Denham, Lettings Assistant
    Diane came from the bright lights of London to West Bay in 2011 with her husband Paul, searching for their very own escape to the country. Initially happy to relax, Diane decided that working part time was definitely the best compromise and has now been working happily in the Bridport Lettings office since early 2014 supporting manager Lucy. In her spare time she likes to spend weekends with friends and family who visit from all over the UK and Europe and is proud to show off the local sights and music scene around Bridport and West Bay.
