Most of the sales in Alston over the past year were detached properties which on average sold for £240,444. Terraced properties had an average sold price of £128,990 and semi-detached properties averaged at £105,667.
Alston, with an overall average price of £172,313, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby Appleby-In-Westmorland (£167,792), but was cheaper than Brampton (£188,530) and Penrith (£197,639).
In the past year house prices in Alston were 9% up on the year before and 15% down on 2006 when they averaged at £202,146.
