Footballer selling frenzy

| |

The transfer window may be well and truly closed but it seems some of the Premier League’s best players still have some loose ends to tie up – their properties!

Across the UK, footballers have been putting their WAG-tastic homes on the market to make room for flash, new properties nearer to their new clubs.

Rightmove wishes to correct a recent article published here on the Rightmove blog and in a Rightmove Newsletter linking the footballer Nicky Barmby to a property for sale on Rightmove.  Mr Barmby’s  property is not for sale and the article was inaccurate.  We apologise unreservedly to Nicky Barmby, Bradford City Football Club, William H Brown and any other parties involved for our mistake and will be reviewing our internal processes to ensure this does not happen again.

Robin van PersieRobin van Persie

Recently selected Arsenal captain, Robin van Persie, put his five bedroom detached home on the market for £1,395,000. The Dutch footballer and his wife Bouchra have lived in the Goffs Oak, Hertfordshire (a popular area amongst footy stars) property since 2006 and have recently installed a top of the range kitchen and luxury bathrooms. The property offers everything you’d expect from a footballer’s pad, including state of the art interiors, electric security gates, a games room and even a small football pitch in the garden.

Joey BartonJoey Barton

Joey Barton was recently transferred down south to QPR leaving his northern roots behind, and with it his northern property. The Premiership player’s seven bedroom detached house is now up for sale for £1,400,000. The fully refurbished property is situated in Jesmond, Newcastle (the next Geordie Shore house perhaps?) and features a vast, magnificent fish aquarium that acts as a divide between two of the reception rooms at the front of the house.

Kevin NolanKevin Nolan

West Ham captain, Kevin Nolan has just sold his five bedroom stylish family home in Ponteland. Previously listed at £1.6million, there’s no doubt that this property was once owned by a footballer; the pad boasts electric gates, an impressive illuminated fountain, games/bar and cinema room, football shirts on the wall and even a small bridge leading the property. The property hit the headlines last year, when fellow Newcastle United player, Andy Carroll, was ordered to stay with Nolan and his family as one of the conditions of his bail for an alleged offense.

Francis BenaliFrancis Benali

Ok, so he might not be a footballer anymore, but those footballer fanatics amongst you may remember Southampton defender, Francis Benali. The 42 year old recently put his custom-built family home in Chilworth onto the market for £1.995million. Francis and his family have lived in Springwood for six years and are sure to have enjoyed the perks of the property, including a swimming pool, cinema and stables.

I think its great if footballers want to invest in property as there are few better ways to safely look after your money, especially as a footballers life is often short lived due to fitness and injuries, but i cant see how they justify there pay in the premiere

Thats our thoughts – great blog
