JK Rowling’s property is on the market

It’s been a busy month for JK Rowling; not only has she just released her first adult book, The Casual Vacancy, but she has also put her eight bedroom home on the market.

Take a look around.

The famous author wrote many of the Harry Potter books in the Edinburgh property that is now up for sale for £2.25million.

The family home, which she shared with her husband and three children until 2009, comes complete with two kitchens, a library and plenty of period features including flagstone floors, fireplaces and sash windows. Rowling’s former home also boasts an extensive security system and electronic gates – to keep out the eyes of those hard-core Harry Potter fans.

The stone house is surrounded by a landscaped garden and features a separate split-level summer house/office with its own kitchen, double bedroom and sitting room – perhaps where Rowling dreamed up young Harry’s future adventures?
