Description

A handsome townhouse on a corner plot, situated on a modern development, where the three-storey accommodation, the south-facing garden and the village location are made for a family.

The property was built by Barratt in 2018, and the owners bought it brand new. A couple with a baby back then, they knew this home would be perfect for raising a family. They’ve loved living here, keeping it in good order over the years (annual boiler services, monthly lawn treatments, fortnightly window washing), and the things that appealed to them on their first viewing are still very much appreciated now.

Four double bedrooms was at the top of their list of non-negotiables, and this house really ticked that box. Bedroom one has space for a superking, and the three remaining bedrooms each have space for a desk as well as wardrobes and drawers. Their children love how big their bedrooms are, often having sleepovers together, and Mum and Dad like that the children have privacy on the top floor, while they have peace and quiet. Bedroom one has an en suite shower room, the two top bedrooms share a Jack and Jill shower room, and bedroom two is next to the bathroom, which feels like a third en suite. There’s also a downstairs cloakroom.

For storage, the owners fitted mirrored wardrobes in bedroom one, and maximised the understairs alcove by fitting cupboards for coats and clutter. The hall has a double cupboard ideal for shoes, and the landing has a deep double cupboard for sheets. The size of the garden allows for a huge shed.

Evident as you move about the house is the level of sunlight streaming in. All the bedrooms are dual aspect, the top two have skylights too, and the downstairs accommodation is bright and filled with light. The kitchen/dining room has two windows, as well as French doors opening onto the deck, and the lounge is dual aspect again.

The lounge to the right of the house is spacious, comfortable, with soft carpeting, and a media wall installed in December 2023. This has a recess for a TV, built-in storage cupboards, and display shelving with motion-sensored lighting.

The open-plan kitchen/dining room to the left is a great size. The owners have hosted 11 here for Christmas, and their family of five can eat together at the table. Appliances are all integrated, including an oven and grill, a gas hob and extractor hood, a fridge/freezer, a washing machine and a dishwasher. There’s a stainless steel sink and drainer inset into wood-effect worktops, and there’s plenty of storage to taupe gloss cabinetry. The owners have considered extending to the side of the house, creating an L-shaped kitchen/dining room/snug and an adjacent utility room, and the garden size presents possibility to do so (stp).

The garden was another important box ticked. Mrs is a sun worshipper, and the south-facing aspect means as much of this as possible. It’s also relatively unoverlooked. There’s lawn for kicking a ball and for having water fights, and they added decking across the full depth of the house so there’s more space to sit outside in summer. The blossom tree at the front tells them when spring is on its way, and there’s a bed planted with pretty flowers. To the back of the house is the tandem driveway for two, and the road affords parking for further.

The property is positioned in a quiet spot steps from the nearest park, and the school run takes just 12 minutes on foot, over the bridge and past Captain Tom’s house. Getting into surrounding areas  is easy, with Ampthill and Woburn 15 minutes away, Bedford 20, and Milton Keynes 25. The capital is commutable from Bedford and Flitwick into St Pancras, and from Milton Keynes into Euston.

Marston Moretaine offers a range of amenities, with much more than just everyday essentials. The owners spend lots of time at The Forest Centre, Marston Beans, GWD gym, and The Bell’s family-friendly beer garden, and there’s a fantastic community in the village. This is your opportunity to be a part of it.
