Rugby is a market town situated in Warwickshire on the River Avon. With a population of more than 62,000, it is the second largest town in the county and is flanked by the neighbouring towns of Coventry, Northampton and Leicester.
Property in Rugby is extremely well priced, below the national average, and comprises a large number of detached and semi-detached properties, along with new build estates, Victorian conversions, traditional houses and flats. Buyers looking to set up home in Rugby should find somewhere suitable with ease.
Rugby is widely regarded as the home of the sport of rugby. The game was first played in 1823 at a match at the prestigious Rugby School, one of England's oldest educational establishments.
The town centre is mostly Victorian and early 20th century but several much older buildings have survived. At one time, Rugby enjoyed a reputation for having the second-highest number of pubs per square mile in England, so there is no shortage of watering holes for the thirsty visitor in this town!
The main shopping area, home to many excellent retail outlets, is located in the streets around the Clock Tower, two of which are pedestrianised.
The town lies near several major trunk routes including the M6, M1, M45 and the A45. By rail, Rugby has services to London, Birmingham and the North West of England. Coventry Airport is just 17 miles away and the town also has a direct rail link to Birmingham Airport.
Buses regularly run to Coventry, Southam, Leamington Spa, Daventry, Banbury, Leicester and Northampton, as well as to the major estates around the town.
Rugby isn't just for sports lovers - it's an ideal place to put down roots in the heart of England.
