Description

Princess House (formerly George Inn) is positioned on the northern side of the village of Shrewton, situated on Salisbury Plain in the county of Wiltshire. The village is located 3.5 miles north of Stonehenge, midway between Salisbury and Devizes, and just under 5 miles from the town of Amesbury. The village is easily accessible from the A360 which links to the A303 nearby. Shrewton has a number of amenities including another public house, a village hall, three churches, a cricket club, a village store and a petrol station. At one point in its history, Shrewton had a total of six pubs serving the village: four of these were open for much of the 20th century, however only the Plume of Feathers remains. According to the 2021 census, Shrewton has a population of 1,724.

The area is steeped in tourism thanks to the Stonehenge UNESCO World Heritage Site, the cathedral city of Salisbury, Longleat Safari Park and Estate and the designated national landscape of Cranborne Chase AONB, which lies a short distance away.

The city of Salisbury is around 11 miles distant via the A360 which joins the A36 at Stapleford. This medieval city on the southern edge of Wiltshire is an iconic tourist attraction with its 13th century cathedral, town centre market and many high street retailers.

Princess House is positioned on the road passing through Shrewton in a prominent corner location. It was first recorded as an inn back in 1607, though it ceased being a public house in 2016. The property is a substantial building of two storeys with rendered elevations and a pitched roof. It is briefly described as follows:

The building is separated into two sections with three entrances. Entrance one, from the north side, leads into an interconnecting hallway with three EN SUITE BEDROOMS and one SELF-CONTAINED APARTMENT with a small KITCHEN. Ladies' and gentlemen's CUSTOMER TOILETS.

Entrance two on the ground floor leads into a large DOUBLE BEDROOM with EN SUITE SHOWER ROOM.

Entrance three on the southern-most side of the building leads into one DOUBLE BEDROOM with EN SUITE SHOWER ROOM and a SINGLE ROOM/STOREROOM.

FIRST FLOOR
