we feel so positive towards them
"I never thought I would see the day when I would be writing something like this. First, I have never written a testimonial before as I hold them in very low regard. They are normally supplied by sycophantic 'friends' or 'associates' and are therefore of very dubious validity. Second, I was in that large group that hold estate agents in very low regard and could not conceive a time when I might by singing the praises of one of their number. So why am I writing this?
First some background. My wife and I had been trying to sell our house and downsize for around two years. Our house had previously been on the market with two different agents. With no impending sale (and few viewings) in sight we hit a crunch point. We ended the contract with the second estate agent and determined to: either try and sell the house ourselves; take the house off the market and revise our future plans; or sound out the credentials of a new agent in town - Bridges Lockstone. For us, logic dictated that we explore the third option first but we fully expected to be settling for either the first or second. Suffice it to say we were wrong. In May 2010 we 'interviewed' David for a couple of hours (he might well use the term grilled), subsequently met with him and Sarah for a further round of questions and subsequently decided to put the sale of our house in their hands. At this stage we felt sufficiently confident in their approach and competence that we were happy to agree to a long-term arrangement. We completed on the sale of our house in December 2010 and felt that our faith in them had been more than amply demonstrated.
To say that we were pleased with their performance would be an understatement but to capture why we feel so positive towards them is more difficult to articulate, but, here goes. At all times we felt we were in the hands of people who were sympathetic to our aspirations, concerns and the emotional ups and downs that go with buying and selling property. They listened carefully to our ideas and worked with us to customise a marketing strategy and the supporting sales materials. This was far from a one size fits all approach and represented a truly bespoke offering. Alongside this they were always very friendly and really seemed to care about us. Last, but not least, their performance was under-pinned by a motivation to succeed which not only embraced hard work and a 'can do' mentality but also sought out creative solutions to the many inevitable obstacles encountered along the way.
So are we really saying we have been in the hands of estate agents who were friendly, sympathetic, caring, collaborative, hard-working and innovative? Most emphatically yes and we cannot believe that we are the only ones who have arrived at or will arrive at this conclusion. It should therefore be no surprise that we wish Bridges Lockstone and all their staff every success."
