    SELLING YOUR PROPERTY

    Step 1

    The valuation

    The process of selling should start by getting your property valued. McKillop and Gregory have a straightforward attitude to giving accurate marketing advice on your property to try and obtain the best possible price in the timescale you require. This is a free service with no obligation.


    Step 2

    Preparing your home for marketing

    We prepare draft details on your property with photographs, room sizes, the EPC and floorplan and this is then sent to you for your approval. We advise you on how to present your house in the best possible way to attract as much interest from potential buyers.

    The property is then promoted through the internet, through the Salisbury Journal and our office in Castle Street and accompanied viewings can take place seven days a week subject to availability.


    Step 3

    Offers on your property

    Once viewings have started on your property, we always get feedback and let you know viewers comments. When offers are received these will be discussed with you. We act purely on your behalf to negotiate the best price in the best timescale for you before accepting any offer.


    Step 4

    The sale process

    Once an offer has been accepted solicitors are then instructed. We can recommend local solicitors if required as well as local surveyors and we keep a very proactive watch on all our sales with regular updates to all parties.


    Step 5

    Progressing the sale

    One of the most important parts of the sale are making sure the chain, if there is one, stays together so regular communication with other estate agents is vital.

    You should never have to ring us for an update on your sale as we will keep in touch with you on a regular basis.


    Step 6

    Exchanging contracts & completion day

    The timescale between the offer being accepted and exchange of contract is anything between 8 - 12 weeks. This is often due to delays with searches, with chains, with mortgage offers being received and all the other matters involved with the sales process. Once all the legal process is in order, we should be able to agree a date for exchanging contracts and completion. This is finalised between both solicitors and the full chain and will be subject to your booking of removals.

    On exchange of contract a deposit is paid throughout the chain and then you are legally tied into the purchase and sale. On completion day the balance of the purchase price including any mortgage monies will be handed over. Solicitors will notify us, and we will then have great pleasure in handing over keys to our buyers on this all important day.

    BUYING A PROPERTY

    The majority of our buyers register with us either by email or telephone. The days of buyers coming around all the Estate Agents in Castle Street have long gone. Once the buyers have contacted us, they are registered, and we contact them on a regular basis including sending a copy of our Salisbury Journal Advertisement when we advertise in the paper. New properties coming on to our books, are also emailed to our applicants giving them priority for viewings.

    All our properties are put on our website as well as rightmove and onthemarket portals. Many of our buyers are registered with both these portals for email alerts so contact us once a new property is made available to arrange a viewing.

    Accompanied viewings of our properties can be arranged 7 days a week subject to availability with one of our experienced staff. All viewers are followed up for further comment and if that property is not suitable further details are taken to try and find something else which will fit their requirements. If you see a property through another agent and need some advice on location, facilities etc then we would be delighted to help. With thirty years of experience of selling properties in the Salisbury area we believe we have a very good idea of how to guide you to your new home.

    David McKillop - Senior Partner

    I was educated as a child at Chafyn Grove School and then at Shrewsbury School and Reading University and have been involved with the City of Salisbury for nearly all my life. I came back to the City in 1984 to take over as manager of Pearsons and have been dealing with the Salisbury property market ever since. I had a brief period with Prudential Property Services as an Area Director and then established McKillop and Gregory in 1990. We have built up a first class reputation for professional and friendly service and have always tried to put our clients first.

    I live out at Bowerchalke and have been closely involved with the community there and am a strong sports supporter and sponsor Salisbury Rugby as well as the Chalke Valley Cricket Club. We are also involved with the Salisbury business and educational community sponsoring various promotions in schools as well as local charities.

    I am a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors as well as being a member of the National Association of Estate Agents and therefore keep fully up to date with all the changes in the property world in this modern age.

    Giles Vye - Associate

    I have worked in the estate agency profession for some thirty-five years, beginning my career in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. I subsequently joined John Jeffery and Sons in Shaftesbury and then the Salisbury branch before starting my own business with offices in Downton and Wilton. After a short period, I combined the two with a move into Salisbury where I successfully practised for ten years. In 2015 I decided to join McKillop and Gregory bringing my experience and similar ethos to this well respected and highly professional firm.

    I live with my wife and two sons in Harnham, on the edge of the City, having previously lived in Wilton for some twenty years where I played an active part in supporting the community and where I still enjoy singing with the excellent choir in the wonderful Italianate style church.

    Samantha Jack - Office Manager

    I joined McKillop and Gregory in 2007 as a part time administration clerk and have subsequently taken up the full-time post of Office Manager. I deal with the day to day running of the office, but I am also involved with sales negotiations and monitoring of sales to completion. I liaise regularly with other property professionals, solicitors, surveyors and developers.

    David McKillop actively encourages continuous professional development and since joining the firm I have completed the National Federation of Property Professionals level 4 Certificate in Sale of Residential Property and I am now a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents.

    I live, with my family, in the Bourne Valley and am an active member of the Bourne Valley Scout Group, where I am a scout section assistant. I also play the tenor drum for the Southern Jacobites Pipe Band and play the bodhran and kohan drum with the Black Grouse Ceilidh Band.

    I joined McKillop and Gregory in 2014 as an accountant. Prior to this I worked at Smith & Williamson in Salisbury, where I trained as a Chartered Accountant. I am a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. It is my responsibility to maintain the accounting records, payroll, VAT returns and to produce annual accounts.
