Rightmove, the UK’s largest property platform, is launching the next phase of its AI-powered property search experience, bringing the ‘Ask Rightmove’ experience directly into property search results pages. A new Comparison Assistant will allow home movers to compare multiple properties side by side.
The launch is the latest step in Rightmove’s ambition to build an AI-powered digital ecosystem that reduces friction in the home-moving process. It builds on the AI-powered Search Assistant first introduced via the homepage search bar in February and the Evaluation Assistant that launched in property listings in July. The enhanced conversational search experience will initially be rolled out to a subset of users before being scaled more broadly over time.
The new AI-powered feature will help home movers determine which property is the best fit for their needs by helping them compare homes and understand local areas. They can ask conversational questions beyond traditional search filters about multiple properties and about the area they are searching in. Home movers can also add their own bespoke comparison criteria, generating unlimited additional comparison rows based on any topic that matters to them, such as proximity to supermarkets, suitability for hybrid working, nearby schools or access to transport links.

Questions like “Which home would be best for hybrid working?” and “Which property has the most family-friendly features?” or “Compare the outdoor space across these homes” can be answered instantly.
The features use information provided by sales and letting agents within property listings, Rightmove’s extensive property data, Google Maps data, Experian for schools and Land Registry to generate responses. This makes it easier for home movers to evaluate options without having to manually review multiple property descriptions and helps our partners by bringing property listings to life with key features more discoverable.
Home movers using the Ask Rightmove search assistant are demonstrating higher levels of engagement throughout their search journey. In the period to 30 June, compared with those not using the feature, they spend 40% longer on Rightmove, save more than twice as many properties and send around twice as many leads to agents, suggesting the AI-powered search tools are helping people explore properties more deeply and progress with greater confidence.
Tarah Lourens, Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Rightmove, said: “Rightmove is innovating across the property search journey. Our latest AI-powered development helps movers better understand the differences between properties and identify the homes that best fit their needs, making the search process more informed and efficient. At the same time, it helps our partners bring property listings to life by making key features more discoverable and meaningful to potential buyers and renters.”
Maureen Costello, Vice President, UKI and SSA, Google Cloud said: “Rightmove’s latest comparison tool is a fantastic showcase of Gemini Enterprise delivering real utility at scale. By enabling movers to compare homes side by side and explore local communities conversationally, this feature strips friction out of the moving process. We’re delighted to collaborate with Rightmove as they continue to evolve the digital search experience for home movers.”
