Description
The property was built by the current owners 16 years ago and they worked closely with award-winning architects Munden Robinson to create a truly outstanding house which won the RIBA house of the year in southern England in 2007. Possibly influenced by a UNESCO world heritage awarded house Villa Tugendhart,in the Czech Republic, built in 1929, the interior of this magnificent house flows beautifully and takes full advantage of the superb views obtained from all principle rooms over the sea and adjacent Branksome Dene Chine.
The over-sized front door gives access to mezzanine accommodation where the ground floor opens in to a vast open plan kitchen/family room with dining area. The kitchen units were hand made in solid Macassar Ebony wood with a five metre honed granite over-sized central island unit. From this room sliding doors disappear into walls to create a real feel for indoor/outdoor living giving access to several terraces and seating areas. On this level of the house there is a study with curved wall and drop-down double bed as well as two bedroom suites, both with en-suite facilities, and a further hidden shower room, utility room and wine cellar.
The first floor opens into a large breath-taking sitting/dining room with American Walnut floors which in turn leads out to a spacious terrace enjoying wonderful sea views with a stair flight reconnecting with further terraces and outdoor fire place. Leading from the sitting room you enter an American Walnut wooden lined circular inner hallway with hidden doors sliding to reveal a cloakroom and another leading into the principal bedroom suite with a centrally positioned bed overlooking the garden and sea. This suite leads to a generous en-suite bathroom and two dressing rooms. Within the inner curved hall a further hidden door gives access to a ships ladder leading up to a bedroom/games room with en-suite bathroom.
The delightful gardens are south facing and secluded, leading to a gate and path which meanders through mature maritime pine trees down to the upper promenade where there is a Beach Chalet. This in turn leads to the lower promenade and the world famous beaches. Consent has also been granted for an outdoor swimming pool to be constructed.
