Some Local Places To Visit

Wimborne Minister
Wimborne Minster is an oasis of charm where the old and new softly merge in its meandering ancient streets, open green spaces, flower gardens, and plethora of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. A town for all seasons, Wimborne offers visitors something for everyone to delight in and will entice you to return time and time again.

The Treasures of Wimborne, three unique attractions, offer indoor and outdoor activities that all the generations can enjoy; discover the quirky artefacts inside the gracious Minster Church, enjoy browsing the shop and exhibitions at Walford Mill Crafts or be a giant for the day in the wonderful Model Town - based on what the town looked like in the 1950's.

Within the Minster Church is the Chained Library whose oldest book dates from the 1300s and is handwritten. The collection includes a book of sermons belonging to Catherine of Aragon. The Library is one of four remaining chained libraries in England and the country’s second largest. Also in the Minster is an astronomical clock showing both the sun and moon circling the earth.

Kingston Lacey
Spend some time meandering around Kingston Lacy which is just a short drive away from bustling Wimborne town centre. The National Trust's elegant 17th century Italian inspired country mansion is set in attractive formal gardens with extensive parkland and makes for a pleasant morning of discovery.

Wander around the house and enjoy the Spanish Room with its gilded ceiling brought from the Contarini Palace in Venice. Witness paintings by Rubens, Van Dyck, Titian and Brueghel and explore the largest private collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts in the UK.

Aunt Fanny's Cafe
The Café atmosphere is informal and very welcoming, with a real home from home feel. With indoor and outdoor seating at the front and rear there are plenty of tables to choose from.

Using local producers and our kitchen garden, everything is made to order with a range of home-made, classic British dishes, breakfasts, afternoon teas and snacks.
