2003 saw the current owners move here to be closer to the school for their two young children. What started as a way to gain precious time and not be sat in a car in traffic quickly grew to be something much more special than ever imagined.
Both children attended after school clubs and this delightful Georgian home soon became the go to meeting point for the parents of their friends before pick up, it is a home that creates great friendships and community spirit.
You'll chuckle when you picture, as the kids grew older, our clients coming downstairs on a Sunday morning and counting shoes in the hallway to find out how many of their children's friends had come home and stayed overnight, working out how many breakfasts to cook that morning!
The cellar went from storage space for toys to music room for the drum kit to games room with pool table, gaming chairs and x-box.
The magic for us is that there are countless stories the owners have, wonderful memories of parties indoors and in the garden, of times in the playhouse and walks with the dogs out into the countryside.
For centuries families have loved this wonderful Grade II Listed home and people are still making magical memories, enjoying the character, those wonderful windows, the floors, the fireplaces and other features that connect you with history.
Harbledown is a beautiful spot, orchards to one side of it lead you into gorgeous Kent countryside. Step out of your door and turn right, you quickly find yourself walking into the centre of Canterbury City Centre; it's so close and yet just far enough away.
Walk to the station for a train including a High Speed to St Pancras, walk through historic gardens, beside waterways that wend through the city, explore narrow streets, pass the old city walls and seek out Roman remains.
Canterbury has a vibrancy that comes with any university and college destination; it has that amazing history that draws people from all over the world.
Food, drink, shopping, culture it is all here and when you sit for a meal on a city centre rooftop terrace of an evening gazing at a stunningly lit Cathedral, that magic of Canterbury really grabs you.
All that on your doorstep and you get to come home to this stunning house, to feel like you are part of a village community, to walk to the local pub and to just enjoy life with friends and family; no wonder the owners stayed for nigh on twenty years, why wouldn't you!
