Description

Delightful extended home in a coastal setting with rural and sea views – About 9.5 acres, Small holding, Stable Block, Garage & Various Outbuildings.

Description

This wonderful property has been home to the family for 70 years. This is a once in a generation opportunity to secure a small holding as a life style property and equestrian facilities are already in place. Two of the buildings which form the collection at West Woodside date back to about 1890 and are still in place. They have now been converted for vehicular space, hobby and workshop areas. In addition there are a number of other modern outbuildings. This includes the detached modern house which was built in 1980 and extended further in 2014 to provide a contemporary home. A theme throughout is the extensive use of oak door frames, doors and skirting boards.

This delightful detached house has an elevated position and is set over two floors but can have the benefit of one storey living if required.

A welcoming hallway opens into the main reception area of the house. The rooms around this hub offer superb circulation and entertaining space. Overlooking the patio and with sea views is the open plan dining kitchen/dining room. The kitchen has a range of oak fronted base and wall units with glass fronted displays. Appliances include a Rangemaster cooker with five ring gas hob, electric ovens and extractor hood, Samsung side by side refrigerator/freezer, and Bosch dishwasher. A breakfast bar splits the room from the dining space which again has a similar aspect to the kitchen. French doors open into the superb sitting room accessed via a solid oak staircase. A vaulted ceiling adds to the feeling of space and the outdoors is brought in by French doors opening onto the patio. Large triple aspect windows bring an abundance of natural light into this area which is certainly a room from which to enjoy the outlook in all seasons. French doors open into the relaxed lounge with an open archway into the snug which is a very versatile space. Everyday domestic tasks are catered for with the utility room with garden access and cloakroom with WC and wash basin. There is plumbing for a washing machine and ventilation for a tumble dryer. The ground floor is completed with the principal bedroom suite with en suite shower room and dressing room. A modern staircase with decorative spindles leads to the first floor spacious landing with two Velux windows and storage cupboard. With front and rear aspects are bedrooms two and three, both with walk in wardrobes. Bedroom four has deep built in wardrobes and sea views. Bedroom five is currently used as a home office. The main bathroom has a three piece white suite with deep double end bath and separate shower enclosure.

Location

Surrounding the property are a number of cycle and walking and horse riding areas.
Cruden Bay is a small village on the north coast of the Bay of Cruden, Aberdeenshire, just west of Slains Castle. It is a firm favourite with tourists thanks to its big skies and wide horizons, sandy white beach, crystal clear waters and quaint fishing harbour. One of Aberdeenshire’s finest sandscapes can be seen at the Cruden Bay Golf Club, a traditional Scottish links course originally designed by Tom Morris of St Andrews and re-designed in the 1920s by Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler. The panoramic views across the coast and of Slains Castle in the distance are breathtaking. Cruden Bay has a medium-sized primary school, while secondary schooling is available at Peterhead Academy. There are a few small shops, a chemist/newsagent, a post office, a craft shop and a general store. There is also a medical practice and library. There are good sports facilities, with tennis courts and two football pitches. The school and public hall house a number of youth groups such as Girlguiding UK. The nearest town is Peterhead, just 4 miles away, which was founded by fishermen in the 16th century and still retains a relatively diverse economy, including food processing, textiles, service industries and, still importantly, fishing. There is a 100 berth leisure marina and Maritime Heritage Centre along with a medical centre and community hospital. Education is catered for with Peterhead Central School, Peterhead Academy and Anna Ritchie School. The town is well served with a number of independent shops and other retail facilities.
