Owners Interview Questions

1. Tell us a bit about your property?

The property was our first home and we enjoyed every moment living in it. The flat is large for the area, and the fact that the block is purpose-built means that thought was put into the functional design and layout of the flat.

2. How long have you owned the property?

Since 2008. We always lived in the flat, we never rented it out.

3. What are the neighbours like?

Mostly a combination of young professionals and people who have owned and lived in the
flats for a very long time. There is a very good sense of community within the block; residents care about the building, and are considerate and respectful of others.

Given that it is a small block - there has also always been a very good sense of community between the residents, a number of which have owned their flats for many years (some have lived there for decades).

It is a quiet residential road - very safe and peaceful. A lot of young families live on this road.

4. What changes have you made on this property?

We thoroughly refurbished both bathrooms in 2016. We also re-piped the heating shortly
after we moved in and we put in a new boiler approximately five years ago. The new double-glazed windows for the entire building were put in within a year of us moving in.

The entire flat has also been painted and we have changed the floor boards very recently.

5. What attracted you to this specific house and location?

The flat is very spacious. It is also very well proportioned with two proper double bedrooms and a very large living area (living room / dining room). The master bedroom is also very large, and can be arranged to allow for a sitting area / sofa if this is desired. The second bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, making it perfect (and private) for guests or children.
The block of flats is small - meaning that service charge costs are reasonable. The block benefits from a sizeable private garden at the back, which is lovely for a drink. Once you step out of the garden, you come onto Wavel Mews - the combination of the garden and mews means that the block is very quiet which makes living there very relaxing.

The area is just brilliant. It is very close to the amenities of West End Lane and Boundary
Road (an abundance of restaurants, cafes and shops) and there is a bustling farmers' market
near the main West Hampstead square at weekends. West Hampstead is also close to
Regent's Park and Hampstead Heath - so perfect for weekend walks (or a trip to the zoo!).

6. What would you like to tell parents about the benefits of raising children here?

It is a lovely and safe place to live. There are very good schools nearby, lots of parks for
outdoor activities and a lot of families live in the area which means that restaurants, shops
and cafes are very family-friendly.

7. What made you choose this property over the others that were available?

The size and layout of the flat and the abundance of natural light in the property. The fact
that the block benefits from a private garden. The excellent location - walking distance from
many amenities. The great transport links. The very reasonable service charge compared to
others in the area. The fact that the flat is a share of freehold as opposed to a leasehold
property. The fact that the road on which the property is located is very peaceful.

8. How convenient is it for commuting from here (What transport links are nearby)?

The flat is ideally located for a number of transport links:
- Tube stations: West Hampstead, Kilburn, Kilburn Park, Finchley Road
- Train stations: West Hampstead Overground and Thameslink
- Bus: various bus connections including buses 139 and 189 to Oxford Street (and
beyond!).

9. Does anyone famous live here or nearby?

Sean Connery lived in Wavel Mews in the 50s! We have also spotted a number of celebrities
walking around over the years including Jude Law and Helena Bonham-Carter!

10. What is your favourite room and why?

The living room / dining room. It's a very big space and it is flooded by natural light in the
morning. The size and layout of this space also makes it ideal for entertaining.

11. Memorable/remarkable event?

Hosting lively dinner parties and lunches with friends over the years - with cocktails in the
garden!

12. What will you miss most?

Being located so centrally, with so many amenities at our doorstep, whilst living in such a
peaceful property.

13. What do you love about the local community and what amenities are nearby?

What we love most about the local community is that there is something for everyone and
everything is easily accessible. Weekends can involve walks in the nearby parks, lunch/dinner on West End Lane or visiting Camden Market. If the cinema is your thing -
there is an abundance of movie theatres nearby- 3 Everyman Cinemas (Belsize Park,
Hampstead and Maida Vale), as well as the Vue Cinema in the O2 centre on Finchley Road.

For a proper shopping experience, you can hop on the bus to Oxford Street or visit the
nearby St John's Wood High Street which benefits from many boutiques and restaurants.

14. Why have you decided to move on?

After many happy years in our flat, we decided to buy a house. We are still in North London
(as we love the area) but a bit further out.
