The town is approximately 47 km from the capital. The M-505 also reaches the border with the province of �vila, through the Puerto de la Cruz Verde (1,251 m), which the municipality shares with Santa María de la Alameda.

San Lorenzo de El Escorial has 14 bus lines, four are urban and ten are interurban. Of the interurban routes, three of them have their head at the Moncloa Interchange. All lines are operated by the ALSA company. The closest train station is El Escorial and is 19 minutes away.

SCHOOLS
In San Lorenzo de El Escorial there are 5 daycare centers (2 public and 3 private), 2 public preschool and primary schools, 1 secondary education institute, 3 private schools (with and without concert), 1 foreign center, an important integrated center of musical education (Father Antonio Soler) and 1 university center attached to the Complutense University (María Cristina University).
