Description

The Property
Oriel Cottage is a spacious period home situated in the popular Wiltshire village of West Lavington. The ground floor of the house features an entrance porch and hallway, a large and light sitting room with sliding doors to the patio, a separate dining room, a roomy kitchen with a walk-in pantry and a utility room. Beyond the utility there is a WC and a workshop and store room with access to the garden. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a bathroom. The main bedroom is very large and easily accommodates a super-king size bed with space to spare. The second bedroom is smaller but still large enough to take a super-king with bedside tables; it has a bay window with countryside views. The third bedroom is a single and ideally sized for children (or a study). The bathroom has a new shower/bath.
Outside from the rear of the house there is a lovely sunny patio leading to the gardens. The gardens are impressively long, with the ‘upper’ garden (lawn, flowers, greenhouse) extending down through a gate into the ‘lower’ garden (orchard, sheds, fruit cage, veg patches). The single garage is accessible from the patio and driveway, where there is space to park two cars.

West Lavington has a local shop/post office, a pub, a GP surgery, playgrounds, and primary and secondary schools (including Dauntsey’s). There is excellent countryside walking (or running, etc.) from the village with Salisbury Plain immediately adjacent. The neighbouring village of Market Lavington has additional shops and amenities. The market town of Devizes is five miles to the north, offering shops, supermarkets, restaurants, leisure centres, etc. Salisbury is nearby (19 miles), as is Bath (23 miles). There are regular train services to London Waterloo from Salisbury and London Paddington from Chippenham (13 miles). The A303 to the south gives access to the M3 and junction 15 of the M4 is approximately 20 miles. The centres of Marlborough, Andover, Trowbridge, and Swindon are also within a 30 mile radius.
