Description

A collection of six exclusive, three and four bedroom barn conversions, with views over open countryside. The development has been finished to an exceptional standard, with careful attention paid to the finish and design to create six “one of a kind” properties. All have been individually interior designed to complement the original features which include vaulted ceilings with exposed oak beams, exposed brickwork, and new features including wall panelling.

Industrial marine lighting has been used throughout in conjunction with contemporary wall and feature lights. The ground floors have underfloor heating throughout and are finished with a combination of engineered wood or wood effect porcelain tiled flooring. First floor bedrooms are carpeted with radiator heating.

Internal doors throughout are Shaker style oak, and all doorhandles, plug sockets and light switches are brushed steel. The development has super fast broadband connections and all properties have been wired for TV and there are provisions in place to install satellite dishes if desired.

History and Heritage

The barns date from the 1850s and were originally traditional farm buildings on the Duke of Bedford’s estate. The tall chimney indicates that the farm had adopted mechanised ways of threshing the crop and marks the position of a former fixed steam engine to power the machinery. The brick built single and multi storey buildings have now been converted into six unique contemporary dwellings which have retained the barns’ original architectural features and blended them with modern, high specification fixtures and fittings. The development is on the edge of Millbrook village in a peaceful rural location and yet is only 5 minutes’ drive from Ampthill which has a range of pubs and restaurants, a Waitrose supermarket, and a selection of independent specialist shops. The development is also only about 20 minutes’ drive from both Bedford and Milton Keynes which both have railway stations with commuter trains to London. The properties are freehold and have a 10 year structural warranty.

The kitchens have integrated appliances by Neff and and AEG wine coolers, and some have Bertazzonni range cookers. A combination of brands has been used, including Lusso, Crosswater, Merlyn, Flova, and Water Ebbs, finished with floor and wall tiles by Porcelanosa, Ca’Pietra, and Mandarin Stone.
