History
There was a manor and estate at Bramshott at the time of Domesday. By the late 16th Century, John Hooke, a wealthy cloth merchant, purchased the estate and built a splendid Tudor mansion for him and his family. When he died in 1640, he was succeeded by his son Henry. In 1850, the estate was owned by the Earle family and many of the original buildings were demolished and a new house, known as Bramshott Grange, was built. Between 1921 and 1982, the house became the King George Hospital - but this site has since been redeveloped. To this day, the original Tudor gatehouse still stands in splendid isolation. With its beautifully carved brickwork and intricate detailing, it's a proud monument to a colourful history; a little reminder of what went before and it certainly makes the village feel like a very special place.
