Description

Country living at its best!

A beautiful five bedroom country house in wonderful gardens approaching an acre and fantastic views over the adjoining countryside. Haldons is a fine family home which simply oozes character. With 17th century origins and later Victorian additions, the house had extensive improvements carried out to it a few years ago and offers well proportioned and generous accommodation, ideal for those with a young growing family seeking a country lifestyle yet being so close to neighbouring towns.

STEP INSIDE

A long hallway greets you and leads into the excellent accommodation. There are three good size reception rooms. A snug/family room that enjoys a double aspect with fireplace and wood burner, a large dining room with exposed timbers, brickwork and a lovely fireplace with wood burner. At the rear, opening onto the gardens one finds the fabulous sitting room.  Another room with fireplace with wood burner and doors opening to the garden. Timber studwork divides the sitting room from the excellent well fitted farmhouse style kitchen/breakfast room. The hub of the home and with lots of space for friends and family to congregate. A useful utility room adjoins the kitchen and also on the ground floor, off the hallway one finds a shower/cloakroom.

Upstairs is a long spacious landing with the lovely principal bedroom enjoying an en suite shower room. There are four further bedrooms (three doubles), one of which has a loft room above it, and a family bathroom.

STEP OUTSIDE

Situated at the end of a small no-through country lane on the northern edge of Benington village, Haldons enjoys wonderful gardens approaching one acre. To the front the driveway provides parking for four vehicles and leads to a large detached double garage. The rear garden is laid to lawn with an array of mature trees and shrubs and found at the side house is a delightful paved courtyard area. A patio to the rear offers a lovely spot to sit and take in the views over the surrounding countryside. Half way down the garden is a swimming pool terrace heated by a recently installed air source heat pump. This a perfect place for family and friends to enjoy the summer months. There is a summerhouse on this terrace, ideal as a changing facility.  There is a potting shed, greenhouse and fenced area with fruit trees, soft fruits and raised beds for growing vegetables or cut flowers. At the very foot of the garden is a lightly wooded area, presently used as a small holding for chickens and geese. Again, one can forget the troubles and stresses of the world whilst overlooking the rolling countryside.

LOCATION

Benington is a small, picturesque village, located in north-east Hertfordshire, surrounded by open countryside and farmland. There is a pub, two churches, a small primary school, village hall, recreation ground and of course the Benington Lordship estate and gardens. There is a good community feel, with an annual Fair, local Gardens Open Day, and Chilli and Flower Festivals. It is a popular and desirable place to live, with a rural ambience and good access via road to the neighbouring towns of Hertford, Ware and Stevenage all offering a comprehensive range of shops and leisure facilities. Stevenage, Ware, Watton at Stone and Hertford stations are the closest for the commuter and there is an excellent choice of both state and private schools in the area.
