The church is famous for a Norman cross dedicated to St Helen and for a tablet commemorating the birth of Elizabeth Barrett Browning at nearby Coxhoe Hall in 1806. John Lively Cottage dates back to before the 1600’s and has plenty of historic connections. This detached cottage, adjacent to the owners home, was once the original vicarage for the church and maintains many of its original features, yet after a recent renovation by the current owners there are ample modern comforts to enjoy alongside the historic features.
