Location

East Portlemouth is a small coastal village offering a tranquil, rural setting across the water from Salcombe. Situated on the east bank of the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Estuary, this popular and pretty village is home to a long sandy beach with hidden coves and rock pools, backed by woodland and coastal paths. The village offers a lovely farm shop/café at Village Farm whilst Port Waterhouse offers a range of amenities including boat moorings, parking, storage and maintenance and it also hosts pop-up events. Also operating from Port Waterhouse is Salcombe Watersports offering paddle boarding and sea kayak adventures. A school bus service runs from East Portlemouth to Kingsbridge and there are also excellent pubs in the neighbouring villages of East Prawle and South Pool. The stunning waterside town of Salcombe is East Portlemouth’s closest neighbour and is accessible via a short passenger ferry ride available 365 days a year. Salcombe is renowned for its sailing and boating facilities and is located beside one of the most beautiful estuaries in the South West, with miles of sheltered waters and fine sandy beaches. The town offers wonderful independent shops, galleries, cafés, restaurants and pubs. The larger market town of Kingsbridge is around 9 miles distant with the waterfront town of Dartmouth around 16 miles away. Both offer primary and secondary schooling as well as a wide range of amenities. Communications are excellent with access to the M5 motorway at Exeter, via the A38 Devon Expressway (19 miles).

Directions

From Kingsbridge proceed on the A379 towards Dartmouth. At Frogmore, follow the signs for East Portlemouth and upon descending into the village, At the bottom of the hill, take the left hand hairpin bend signposted "Mill Bay".
