Description
The Mothership – strength is in the name. This boat commands that rarest of things – a permanent and transferable private mooring in the heart of the city.
Quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, define the bespoke nature of this boat.
Down a well-trodden path, just across the water from Primrose Hill, you stumble onto The Cumberland Basin, a familiar sight for the regular commuters and tourists of the towpath. At one end of the mooring, the Mothership sits in a prime location, with a beautiful view across to the Broadway Bridge and St Mark’s Church.
Being at one end of the mooring makes it the perfect place to sit out and enjoy your private terrace, al-fresco dining, a glass of wine, morning coffee… it really is an amazing spot.
As you enter the boat, you step down into beautiful walnut & oak wood interiors. Underfloor and wall electric heating is present throughout, which is perfect at maintaining a consistent & warm air temperature right through the boat. The lighting is curated by an innovative system that is completely original to the vessel, and creates a beautifully calm environment. Electric skylights also enable you to close or open up to the outside.
The living area has been designed to maximise practicality, without losing any comfort. There are two large sofas with subtle built-in storage areas under the seats, a fold-out dining table that can be discreetly stowed away, and a working desk area, all custom fit to the space. You’ll also find under-step shoe storage, bookshelves & a fitted flat-screen television.
The kitchen has been perfectly engineered to be a ‘working kitchen’, unlike anything you will find on a traditional houseboat. ‘Corian’ worktops & splash-backs have been installed (famous for being non-porous and stain resist), individually crafted cabinetry & storage, electric oven/microwave combo, gas hob and fridge/freezer. Finishing things off, a cool breakfast bar, complete with wine cooler, tucks in elegantly alongside, providing a sweeping view of the canal.
Moving towards the principal bedroom, a set of cleverly handcrafted stairs leads up to the top deck, accessible through a sliding hatch door. It’s another great space to spend time outside, without having to step off the boat.
The principal bedroom provides a custom double bed, a substantial wardrobe and a separate controlled underfloor heating system. There is a pull out partition door, that can be exposed to ensure complete privacy whilst sleeping. Adjacent to the bedroom, the first of two bathrooms is hidden behind walnut panelled doors & is equipped with a fully tiled shower, W/C, wash basin, individual hot water pump & vent extraction. An additional storage cupboard is built in just beneath the stairs, perfect for any bags and coats.
At the other end of the boat, the second bathroom is also hidden away, replete with a tiled shower, toilet and wash basin. The second bedroom has a sofa that can be pulled out to make a full-size double bed, a deep storage cupboard and another built-in TV. A small set of stairs pull out from the end, leading out to a lovely rear terrace.
Situated on the Regents Canal, this mooring offers an unrivalled spot to access some of the best areas of London. Camden, Primrose Hill and Regents Park all are all within walking distance, putting plenty of pubs, restaurants, independent shops and wonderful open spaces on your doorstep.
Local transport is at a premium with Camden Town tube station, connecting the Northern Line, less than 15 minute’s walk. Euston Mainline Rail & Tube, linking the Northern & Victoria lines and mainline train services to Birmingham & beyond. The beauty of this location really is the accessibility to the City and West End, either via bike in less than 10 minutes, or by walking, reachable in around 30 minutes.
Please note that houseboats are exempt from Stamp Duty and VAT making this an advantageous purchase for someone seeking such a home in a most central location (buyers are advised to check with their own professional advisors.)
