Description

Jon-Paul Brampton presents... stunning two bedroom apartment forming part of a former Rothschild's built grade II listed Manor House located in the charming Buckinghamshire village of Wingrave.

The property

Formerly The Old Manor House this Grade II listed building is steeped in history and dates back to the 1870's when it was built for Hannah de Rothschild to enjoy her equestrian passions. The name changed to Mount Tabor House after WWII when the nuns of the Order of St Mary of the Cross took it over. It was gifted to the Order of St Mary of the Cross in 1946 and became a home for youngsters with learning disabilities. It was subsequently a school until its conversion in 2007.

Today we find a unique opportunity to own a slice of this history and to enjoy the architecture and grounds afforded to a grand country manor without the upkeep. Access to the property is granted through cast iron electric gates providing both privacy and security. A sweeping driveway leads to the main building. It is here where you start to appreciate the wondrous views, where in the distance you can see the famous Whipsnade Lion and Ivinghoe Beacon.

The apartment itself is situated on the first floor of the main building. Accessed through the simply breathtaking front door and into the truly inspiring wood panelled main entrance hall. A sweeping stair case leads up to the apartment.

Within the apartment ands entrance hall provides space for coat storage. On entering the main living room the true character and splendour of this building immediately become apparent. High ceilings and draw dropping views over the Buckinghamshire countryside greet you. Enabled by the incredible and large ornate original windows. This is a particularly large space which could easily accommodate several sofas and armchairs. There is an original fire surround acting as a focal point and large in built storage.

The well appointed kitchen is adjacent. A great size with room for a table and chairs, and benefiting from a modern sleek design and incorporating all the appliances one would expect.

A sweeping corridor grants access to two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The main bedroom is again generous in size with in built storage and boast and ensuite shower room.

Externally there are two allocated parking spaces situated in a designated parking area, with extra visitor parking. The grounds are spectacular to say the least, extensive, tremendously well maintained and containing a range of mature trees, topiary and huge lawn areas, amounting to approximately circa 2 acres. They surround the building with a small orchard to the rear and lots of original features from the property's historic roots.

A simply wonderful place to live, whether it is a first time purchase, downsize move or investment purchase it is truly one of a kind. But please do not take my word for it! Browse the photos, watch the video tour and read the description, and then if you think this could be the property for you get in touch to take a look.

The location

Wingrave is an extremely charming hilltop village heavily influenced by Rothschild architecture. There are plenty of local amenities including a local shop, Church, school, public house, garage and famous village pond.

But that is really just the tip of the iceberg, as if ever there was a village with a true village community it is Wingrave. There are a plethora of local clubs and societies for whatever tickles your fancy. Whether it be bowls or netball, there is something for everyone. During the warmer months a village BBQ takes place every other Friday on the Recreation Ground. A chance for villagers to meet and connect. There is afternoon tea at the church on a Wednesday, Curry, Pizza or Spuds night at the Community Centre. The village involves itself heavily in Bucks Art Week as there are numerous artists within the village, as well as holding open garden events.

In terms of broader amenities, the market towns of Aylesbury, Tring and Leighton Buzzard are all close by with their High Streets and Supermarkets, as well as all offering rail services into London.

Local schools include Wingrave CoE Combined and access to the Grammar schools of Aylesbury.
