Description

Welcome to Garden Terrace, a quiet traffic-free street in the very popular Birchcliffe area of Hebden Bridge. It's just a five minute stroll from here to the centre of Hebden Bridge where you'll find the array of independent bars, shops and restaurants that make the town such a wonderful place to live. Being only ten minutes walk from the railway station the house is a commuter's dream, and with regular services to Leeds, Manchester and beyond you may choose to live here car-free. Otherwise there's ample car parking available at the end of the street.

The property is typical of Hebden Bridge and set over three floors with an additional storage space in the cellar. Set back-to-back with the property behind you may be surprised to find the house is flooded with light, and as all the windows face south-west you're guaranteed the best of the sunshine throughout the day and into the evening.

The front door opens straight into the comfortable reception room, with the kitchen area set to the left and the living/dining area to the right. You'll immediately be struck by the warm and welcoming feel thanks to an abundance of natural materials – an original stone flagged floor, oak topped kitchen and bespoke wood features. It's a room it's very easy to relax and feel at home in.

The smart off-white kitchen is very well equipped, with an L-shaped section providing excellent workspace, and additional floor-to-ceiling cupboards maximising storage. There's everything you need here already built-in – a gas hob, electric oven, fridge-freezer and space for a washer dryer too. The gas combination boiler is also in a cupboard here, providing heat and hot water for the property. A door to the rear opens onto steps leading down to a small cellar complete with original cooling shelves ideal for storage.

Back on the ground floor, alongside the kitchen is the living / dining space, complete with woodburning stove ideal for cosy evenings in. There's a lovely view from here over the front garden and street beyond, and the space is flooded with natural light from the large window. The present owners have both a sofa and dining table here, which works very well. Alternatively you may wish to dedicate the space to a larger dining table and move the living room upstairs – the choice is yours in this very flexible home.

Moving up to the first floor, where we'll find a small landing area and bedroom two plus the bathroom, which are both generously sized. The bedroom is a good-sized double and features the original Victorian fire grate. There are lovely views from the window over the rooftops and onto wooded hillsides beyond. Next door the bathroom has been recently re fitted and beautifully styled with with quality bamboo-effect flooring and sympathetic wall tiles. There's a L-shaped bath with a rainfall shower above, so depending on your mood you've the option of either a relaxing bath or an invigorating shower. The basin and WC are alongside, with a handy heated towel rail.

A door from the landing takes us up to the second floor, which is entirely devoted to an enormous bedroom space (some other properties on the street have subdivided this space to create a total of three bedrooms). This is a real show-stopper of a room, with a huge amount of head room and two large roof windows ensuring plenty of light. Exposed purlins and the brick chimney breast at the far end add character, and a clever mezzanine above makes brilliant use of the roof space, providing excellent storage accessed via a ladder from the bedroom. The present owners have even found room for a quiet space up here for meditation, tucked away in the highest part of the house.

Outside the house is set back from Garden Terrace and accessed through a gate via a flight of steps. The old coal store provides the perfect place for recycling bins, and the steps bring us to the front door via a delightful paved terrace garden. It's a surprisingly private space, with room for some pots here, as well as for seating and a table, making this the perfect spot for a BBQ during warmer months. A second, smaller section of garden overlooks this. To the side there is a space for a large shed.
