Description
INTRODUCTION
As the name suggests, Sea Dream Cottage truly is a dream of a cottage. However, this dream could become a reality and to find out more please read on…..
This lovely semi detached home is situated in the very heart of Shaldon in the highly desirable ‘Strand’ area of the village and just a stones throw away from Shaldon beach as well as a comfortable walk to Ness Cove Beach through a tunnel in a cliff. The bustling village’s shops include an independent butcher and baker as well as a pharmacy, cafes and a number of good public houses, all on your doorstep.
The cottage has been the subject of extensive modernisation in recent times and this has been undertaken sympathetically by the current owners to a high standard. In doing so, they have managed to create a lovely warm, relaxing retreat with a home from home feel. It is also an extremely successful holiday let with repeat clients visiting time after time. Deceptive in size, this property really must be viewed to be fully appreciated. With a traditional layout, of bedrooms upstairs and receptions on the entry level there is a natural flow to this cottage with plenty of light and space. In total, there are three double bedrooms with a modern bespoke en suite and family bathroom suite. The reception rooms flow effortlessly from room to room with three functionable areas all with their own character. The bespoke kitchen and tiled flooring are of the highest quality too and provide practicality and low maintenance after a hard day on the beach! There is also a downstairs toilet and shower room.
SELLERS INSIGHT
“We have had many wonderful holidays given its proximity to the beach, the Devon countryside and Dartmoor. The village itself has all the amenities you need and some great pubs and cafes. Teignmouth is a five minute journey on the passenger ferry and has a wide range of shops and places to eat. There is a lively and welcoming community to the village. Located at the heart of the village next to the beach and village green means you very quickly feel part of the community.”
STEP INSIDE
Sea Dream Cottage is a property with significant kerb appeal. It is also extremely deceptive in size.
On entering the cottage you are straight away struck by the quality of accommodation on offer. A large ‘open plan’ living area divides in to two receptions in the form of a sitting room and the dining room. The sitting room provides a feature whitewash fireplace with a cast iron wood burner handy for winter evenings. This property very much comes to life however in the summer and the bespoke kitchen and sun room off it provides a comfortable dining or relaxing area. The downstairs toilet and shower room are a helpful addition for washing away a day on the beach. There is also a handy utility room which also provides direct access to the main outside courtyard.
On the first floor level, their are three double bedrooms providing ample space and an abundance of natural light. A high quality en suite has been added by the current owners providing added practicality. There is a bespoke modern family shower room suite and toilet.
STEP OUTSIDE
Unquestionably people will want to spend time outside or to dine out, preferably in your own secluded space. Sea Dream Cottage provides this in the form of a secluded walled courtyard to the side of the cottage. There is also a second small area to the rear of the property, ideal for storing items like paddle boards or surf boards.
LOCATION
Shaldon is a true jewel of a village, nestled within the pretty South Devon coastline and with an abundance of coastal walks and beaches to choose from. The Times recently rated it one of the best places to live by the sea in the UK. It is also very easy to get to with trains stopping regularly at both Teignmouth and Newton Abbot nearby, just a short taxi ride away. Both these stations are on the main London Paddington to Penzance Line with journey times from London taking around two hours thirty minutes on average (times may vary due to number of stops). Exeter is only a short drive away as is the English Riviera and Dartmoor.
