Description
Description
This characterful three bay, T plan house with detached steading is located within the Glen Tanar estate, a much sought after estate in Royal Deeside. Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, a Manchester banker and MP bought the estate in 1869. George Truefitt was commissioned as the architect, and 250 masons and workers were employed to construct the estate buildings, built of locally quarried granite. Truefitt designed a variety of Art and Crafts, imaginatively designed buildings including several farms, steadings and Farmhouses. Although there is no firm evidence indicating that Truefitt designed Little Tulloch, the masonry techniques, unusual proportions and distinctive detailing strongly suggest that he did.
Glen Tanar comprises about 25,000 acres of forest, moorland and farmland, set in Scotland’s spectacular Cairngorms National Park and provides the perfect base for exploring the outdoors. The landscape encompasses rugged heather moorland and towering Caledonian Scots Pine forests, and the beautiful River Dee. Glen Tanar is a working Highland estate which has been responsibly cared for by four generations of the same family since 1905. This beautiful glen is idyllic for hill walking, salmon and trout fishing, deer stalking, grouse shooting and wildlife watching.
An enchanting detached late Victorian house over two floors Little Tulloch Farmhouse requires a significant level of upgrading, modernisation and refurbishment, but has charm and character in abundance and offers a wonderful opportunity for a new owner to stamp their own mark on a very special period property. A front entrance leads into the hallway with beautiful stained-glass windows a lovely pitch pine staircase. The sitting room has a wonderful arched window with stained glass inserts and a side window providing fabulous views. The lounge has similar stained-glass windows and open chimney. Bedroom three has a lovely outlook . A small kitchen looks towards the steading. There is plumbing for a sink and washing machine and cooker control point. Adjacent is a pantry with window. A rear hall has further external access and storage/coat cupboard. There is a bathroom with three piece white suite along with a Mira electric over-bath shower. An opaque window allows further ventilation. Most of the fireplaces are concealed and no longer operational, but there is an open fire in the sitting room. There are two storage rooms integral to the house, both accessed from outside.
Ascending to the first floor is a carpeted staircase. There is a large stained glass bay window, again framing exceptional countryside views. Two double bedrooms are serviced by a bathroom with three piece white suite and mains over-bath shower.
Outside:
