___
Buckingham Terrace is one of the most desirable addresses in Edinburgh's West End.
Designed by John Chesser and built in 1876 on land bought by property developer (and lord provost of Edinburgh), James Steel this was one of Steel's first exclusive developments along with Eglington Crescent. The terrace forms part of the long delayed residential expansion of the city in the late 19th century to the north of the Dean Bridge.
Unlike earlier phases on the New Town, the terraces of the Dean estate were exclusively of individual affluent family houses with lavish Victorian detailing. Many of these townhouses have since been subdivided into apartments.
Located in Edinburgh City Centre, the area is characterised by its beautiful Georgian & Victorian terraces, stunning wide streets and well kept communal gardens. Residents of Buckingham Terrace can apply for access to Belgrave Crescent & Dean Gardens (upon application and payment of a small annual fee).
Excellent shopping is located in the city centre, a ten minute walk away.
14A Buckingham Terrace is in the catchment area for Flora Stevenson's Primary School or St Mary's RC Primary Schools and Broughton High School or St Thomas of Aquin's RC High School. There are also excellent schools nearby including Fettes College, Edinburgh Academy, ESMS and St George's School for Girls.
